Stopped by Monkish on the way home from a football game in Carson. Was kind of last whim but I figured it was on the way so I might as well stop. Short Untappd description was “DDH TIPA with Strata and Galaxy.” Was expecting big things. Nice.
Poured a bright light golden hazy color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy white head. Could see plenty of bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass. Outstanding spotty lacing. Almost perfect retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled Galaxy, peach, apricot, underripe melon, passion fruit, Strata, viney berry and grapefruit. I thought waiting 16 days to have this beer (from the canned on date) but it still seemed a little unripe. A tad better out of the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted about as good as the nose. Still not ready for consumption in my opinion. Need to start having Monkish hazy IPAs a month after the canned on date I guess. Got Galaxy, peach, apricot, underripe melon, passion fruit, peppery spice, Strata, viney berry and caramel. Super smooth for 10.2 pct. ABV. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long finish. (Feel - 4.75)
Another awesome hazy beer from Monkish, just a bit too early despite me having this 16 days after the canned on date. (Overall - 4.25)
