My second bier with dinner during a 20MAY19 visit with Alewife. A 13oz pour was $6.50.

Poured jet black, deep, dense and opaque. Had a creamy, frothy, tan head. Lacing was top shelf. Aroma wasn't overly strong, but had nice roasty notes and choco. Body was medium, and it was pretty smooth. A bit thin, to me, for the style.

Tasty flavor! Dark choco, coffee, cocoa... nice! Was a touch dry and bitter, but solid! Some florality perked up in the finish. Very nice! Prosit!

Reviewed from notes. On tap at the brewpub. The appearance was a black color with a nice looking foamy eggshell white head. Slow dissipation. Mild lace. The aroma had a nice blend of roasted coffee beans, moderate milk chocolate sweetness, light dark chocolate nibs. Touch of dark fruits at the end. The flavor leans towards the sweet side initially and then develops into the roast fairly nice. Light acceptable herbal kick hits and then helps to blend into the aftertaste. Sly earthy/dark fruity/roasty sort of finish. On the palate, this one sat about medium bodied, maybe just a touch higher. Good sipper. ABV did feel right where the brewer projected. Overall, I liked this RIS, very well done.

First to have this at Pro Pig (so I was told). Looks and smells just like an Imperial Stout should. Beyond that specific notes of coffee, chocolate, smoke. Decent. My only feedback is I would have liked to see more of a head.
