This is a review of Outlaw Brewing's Belgian Scotch Ale. Poured from a growler into a very clean glass.
Appearance:
This beer has a small, off white, and frothy head that mostly diminishing after a few minutes. It has good to fair head lacing that sticks around for quite some time. The body of the beer is very clear with a reddish/chocolate colouring.
Smell:
This beer has a very very light nose to it. Mostly a malty smell that is close to nutty or chocolate. The smell is finished with a sweet yeasty aroma to it. Overall the aroma is very week.
Taste:
The strong suit of this beer is the taste! It has a nice sweet and spicy chocolate initial flavor. It finished with the same sweet taste. It is a difficult beer to describe as the flavors are very complex.
Mouthfeel:
This beer has a medium body with dry but creamy body. Its carbonation is lacking a bit leaving it feel a bit flat. However, it is great never the less!
Overall:
This is a wonderful beer that would be great on a cool day with a hearty meal. With springtime in Montana coming I am doubtful I will drink this much in the summer but, I will be buying more of it when next winter comes around!.
