Served on nitro tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a pitch black color with a thick and foamy nitro head. The head has a strong staying power, lasting for quite some time before fading to leave streaky spider-web lacing on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is quite heavy of a roasted malt smell as well as some other darker aromas of cocoa and coffee. Along with the darker aromas are some sweeter smells with some caramel and vanilla as well as a little bit of a sweet cream.
Taste – The taste begins with a nice roasted flavor with a moderate showing of caramel and a little bit of vanilla. As the taste advances the caramel and vanilla get a bit stronger with some flavors of dark chocolate joining the flavor profile. Toward the end, a little bit of a cream taste, as well as some coffee, hit the tongue, leaving a smooth and creamy taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – Being a nitro pour the body of the beer is on the thick and creamy side with a somewhat more subdued nitro body. The thick body and feel were quite nice for the roasted and somewhat sweeter flavors of the brew and made for a rather creamy treat for the tongue.
Overall – A pretty nice stout overall. Not overly sweet but sweet enough, with a great nitro body and a smooth taste and feel.
