Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours deep golden amber color with a one finger head of a foamy white color. The head has a decent level of retention, slowly fading to leave a good sum of bubbly lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is big of a citrus hop smell of grapefruit and a little bit of lemon. Along with these citrus hop smells are some light orange aromas as well as a little bit of a bready smell. A light pine and grassy smell are there as well, producing a rather nice and fresh more IPA aroma overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a nice blend of a bready taste mixed with some lighter tangerine sweetness and some flavors of grapefruit hop. The bready flavors remains rather constant throughout, with the grapefruit citrus growing stronger and stronger to the end. All the while, the orange flavors initially grow stronger toward the middle of the taste, with them only fading later on more toward the end. A little bit of pine and some grassy flavors mix with the grapefruit and bring a little bit of dankness to the taste, with the mix of flavors leaving one with a rather nicely malty and balanced sweet and hopped flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thinner to average side with a carbonation level that is slightly higher. For the mix of sweet citrus, citrus hop, dank hop, and breadines the feel is rather well done as it allows all flavors to be fully sensed, but does not allow for any particular one to dominate the profile.
Overall – This was a very enjoyable and quite approachable hopped pale ale. Quite nice and a great brew to try if you have the opportunity.
