Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a lightly hazed golden-orange color with a one finger head of white foam atop the brew. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a good sum of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is strongest of a bready smell mixed with a little bit of a lighter fruit nature, with hints of apple and pear. Along with these aromas comes some other smells of a slightly grassy and grainy smell with a tiny bit of an earthy hop.
Taste – The taste begins with a somewhat sweeter fruit flavor being a mix of the fruits detected in the nose along with some orange citrus and a bit of caramel. There is a decent sum of a bready flavor right from the start as well, which with the sweet, create a base flavor for the brew. Toward the end a hint of a hoppiness of an earthy and grassy nature comes to the tongue and with a tiny bit of an increase in the bready, a slight decrease in the fruit, and a little bit of a grainy flavor coming to the tongue, one is left with a rather easy drinking, very lightly hopped pale flavor.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly thicker side for a brew of 5 % abv. with a carbonation level that is rather average. For the lighter hop and somewhat sweeter flavors of the brew a slightly thinner body may have been slightly more appropriate, allowing for a more refreshing brew overall.
Overall – Just an OK pale ale. A little too sweet and a little too under hopped. Not bad, but nothing too outstanding either.
