From recent notes on a trip to Helena, Montana.
Poured into a small glass hotel glass. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a thin khaki head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, lactose and cocoa. Flavor is dark toasted malt, lactose, subdued cocoa and a hint of coffee and char. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A spot-on, well balanced milk stout. Not that sweet, with a fine level of lactose flavors. The chocolate seemed a bit dialed back for a chocolate stout, but satisfactory for the style. Full flavored and nicely brewed. This one looked good, so it didn't make it home.

Poured from can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a medium brown color with a small off white head. The head fades super fast to leave a light level of streaky lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is strongest of a roasted malt smell with coffee and hints cocoa. With a little bit of vanilla and milk working their way in as well, it smells like a light café mocha.
Taste – The taste begins with a moderate roasty taste that is mixed with a decent sum of a sweeter caramel and a milky flavor. At first the coffee is light, but it ramps up a bit in taste and melds rather well with the cocoa, roast, and milk. At the very end a strong grainy flavor comes to the taste to produce a moderately roasty and slightly mocha coffee like flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is slightly lighter for a stout, with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. The low carbonation is great, but a little more body may have supported the roasted flavors a bit better. Overall an OK feel.
Overall – A decent brew overall, especially for a stout at only 5.7 % with the flavors it has. Well worth at least one try if you get the chance.
