Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a brownish amber color with a one finger head of white foam. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is big of a bready and roasted malt smell that has a good showing of caramel as well. Along with these aromas are some light smells of toasted cracker and a little bit of hay.
Taste – The taste begins as one may expect from the nose with a toasted cracker and bready taste that has a moderate showing of caramel sweetness. As the taste advances the caramel flavors seem to dry out a bit all while the toasted bready tastes grow stronger. With some taste of a light earthy and herbal hop joining in at the end of the taste, one is left with a moderately roasted malt and lightly dank hopped taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is average in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather average. For the roasty taste the feel is OK, but a little thick for a lager so overall it’s just alright.
Overall- Ahh… Its OK,but nothing all that great overall. Too much roasted breadiness for a Vienna lager without the balance of sweet and lighter hop.
