Pours a slightly hazy lemony straw with a frothy ivory head that lingers.
Aroma reveals Belgian yeast, with estery notes of pear and lemon, but there's a sulfur note initially that I have trouble getting pat. Notes of clove and peppercorn counter the confectioners sugar sweetness.
Flavor reveals a lemony background, with high notes of soft pear taking over in the finish. The aftertaste is lightly peppery. Body is somewhat crackery, and a soft sweetness prevents bitterness from overwhelming.
Body is on the light side, with fairly high carbonation and a carbonic bite.
Very refreshing, with nice ester complexity and sufficient bitterness. Not the most complex, but very drinkable. Not my favorite style, it's more bitter than I prefer.

Light in body, yet full of Belgian-esque charm- the ilk of many Belgian-style beers that are made my American breweries are mere shells of their predecessors with their sweeter balance and dull texture; but all that is avoided in this classy and domestic Belgian pale ale.
Its bright and racy pale straw pour invites a quick visit to the mouth, bringing with it the supple bready sweetness of floral patterns and a modest powdered sugar taste and aroma. Scant perfume, fresh-baled hay and soft spiciness tingle the senses with its very first sip.
Its drying middle palate leaves the sweetness and bread texture behind, favoring the expressive champagne carbonation and citrus taste. Lemon, green apple, and slightly under-ripened oranges bring a playful acidity that's highlighted by mild clove, paradise seed and coriander.
But then its bright effervescence carries a strong peppery finish that's decorated with fresh straw, herbal hop bitterness and fleeting fruit and malt sweetenesses. Firm dryness with a light mineral taste ensures a high rate of refreshment for the palate or a can't-miss accompaniment to a wide range of entrees.
Though not as bold in taste as much of the authentic Belgian fare, as is indicated by its modest strength, the beer's saving grace is its dry palate and its spice-forward finish.
