12 oz. bottle poured into a snifter. Batch 7199.

Appearance - Deep amber. Not much of a head. Nice legs. A little life at the edges.

Smell - Sweet caramel. Dominated by an herbal character I can't pinpoint.

Taste - Sweet. Sugars all over. Herbal character again. Tough to identify what it is. Very sugary. Just a bit of bitterness balances it.

Mouthfeel - Really sweet. Medium low carbonation.

Overall - If there was ever anything balancing the outrageous sugars in this beer, it's long gone. I wish the bottle would tell me what the herbs were, but it's not descriptive at all.

A - 4 - my default rating for beer's appearance if it was drank out of the bottle.
S - 3.75 - pumpkin, brown sugar, sweet potatoes, like a thanksgiving meal in a bottle.
T - 3.25 - very boozy, pumpkin, brown sugar, not all that great.
M - 3.25 - alcohol is very present in this one, a little too much. The beer itself is pretty flat. Aftertaste is pumpkin, booze, and sweet potatoes.
O - 3.5 - It's not all that great. I'd definitely encourage anyone thinking of trying it to go for another Bell's beer.

collar left on a brown body.

Cheeries and a tad of oxidation.

Sweet cherries, oxidation. Very sweet, again. Potpourri? A little usual. Would guess at 9.5%abv

Low carbonation, medium smooth mouthfeel.

Don't know if I could do the whole bottle. Thanks for pulling his out TATURBO.

12oz bottle poured into tulip glass.

vintage 2005. batch number 7199.

Appearance: dark brown to light black bodied beer with one finger of white head. A fizzing sound is heard after the head collects on top of the beer and during the pour. The head immediately dissapates to nothing in less than five seconds. Beer glows a mahoganey hue when held to light.

Smell: Sweet malts, prunes, and paint thinner.

Taste: Really rich dark fruits. Its vinous and sweet. Big notes of plums, prunes, black licorice, boisenberry syrup, and molasses. Beer has a spicy finish and aftertaste. There is also more plum and prune notes in the finish. This beer is a touch to sweet for my tastes, though it has nice complexity.

Mouthfeel: full bodied beer with flat and still carbonation. I would say the carbonation is to be expected to be flat especially since this beer being from 2005. Syrupy mouthfeel. It has a warming and spicy alcohol feel to it.

Overall: This is the oldest beer I have ever drank. It was interesting for sure. Would have liked to try this beer fresh to compare what it was to what it now is.

A - Pours a murky chestnut brown with no foam at all, just some bubbles around the glass. It seems a little flat from the pour.

S - interesting, beef jerky, smokey, very peppery. hmm, it makes me a bit worried.

T - its a cross between plum, beef jerky, smoke and . Actually its not completely bad but it is wearing on me quickly. As it warms the plum comes through more.

M/D - Thick bodied, with very little carbonation, Its an interesting flavor that changes as it warms and gets better too.

I'm guessing maybe a barleywine or maybe a Shorts beer. The carbonation is what is throwing me. So lets rip this bad boy open...

No Way! Bell's Eccentric Ale 2005. Thats friggin crazy. I've wanted to try any of these forever and Abraxel sent me a 2005. Pretty cool if I do say so.
