Pours an effervescent gold with 2 fingers of pearl colored head. Great head retention & lacing

S: Bready, faint medicinal notes

T: Medicinal Spruce, a little cakeyness, plenty of pine too up front. A lot of pinesol notes, a little medicinal flavor, dryness & some lemon notes as this warms. Finishes with pineyness & some sprucey note, plus a little dryness

MF: Medium body, restrained carbonation, skews bitter

Delivers on the featured flavor with good drinkability

pours a slightly hazy gold-with-amber-tinge body with a billowing fluffy cream colored froth head that has moderately high retention and leaves moderately low amount of thick sudsy ropes of lacing behind as it slowly settles to a murky cap with a big rocky halo

aroma is faint, but alludes to pine trees and easy citrus sweetness with a touch of caramel toffee malt

taste blows the aroma's allusions out of the water. a fully rounded display of lightly sweetened citrus with a bouquet of pine and spruce (bark 'n' all) comes through woody and earthy with a touch of sweetness.

the mouthfeel sings me back home, with a mid-level body and carbonation package that runs smooth and pillowy with a just-dry-enough finish and an aftertaste that fades from the earthy bitterness into the citrus sweet.

it's like licking a christmas tree but the tree is beer and also there's a fire cackling in the background because of course it is. i'm not generally a christmas guy, and the holiday ended over a week ago, but this one has me belting out "it's beginning to look a lot like chrrrrrist-a-mas...eeeeeeeeevvverywhere youuu gooo" and also this brew kicks it at 6.5% so that might be part of why but MAN. dunno how I havent treated myself to this one before this year, but it'll be on my yearly MUST list from here on out.
4-point-nearly-5 points for Gryffindor. You're a wizard, Bells.

APPEARANCE: Clean copper with a medium off-white head and some lace.

NOSE: Pine and citrus hops. Subtle.

TASTE: Spruce tips forefront! Hops submerged a wee but some citrus comes through the mix. Tasty and unique nice IPA that performs better in small amounts, with the “Christmas tree” flavor probably limiting the audience. I liked it.

Pours a hazy orange. Thick foam. Hoppy aroma. Very interesting flavor. Big bitter hop body. Very prominent spruce flavor. Slight bitter finish. Bright and crisp. A really unique IPA.

In my opinion, this is a beer that people will either love or hate. That being said, I happen to absolutely love this beer. Spruce beer has been around in North America for hundreds of years, but it is not incredibly common these days. This beer from Bell's is both an homage to the past as well as a refreshing new take on the modern American IPA. As far as I know, it is only available in Bell's "Jingle Bell's" variety pack. I recommend tracking down one of these packs before the season comes to an end.

This is an extremely unique IPA. If you made a Christmas tree into an IPA this would be it. Lots of pine, lots of spruce and smells like it too. Smooth finish.

12oz bottle. Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It left sheets of sudsy lace on the glass. It smelled of spruce. Like an entire Christmas spruce tree. Strong spruce taste with toasted caramel and a sharp bitterness.

12 oz bottle, packaged 10/21/21. Pours clear straw gold with a medium frothy white head that laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet fruit, some perfume and a lot of pine.

The flavor is sweet malts and some fruit with a lot of slightly odd medicinal pine. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, interesting but odd.

Bottled 10/15/21; drank 12/9/21 @ the Yarchives.

See-through orange/yellow appearance.

An even pour yielded a big off-white head; frothy lace.

Mint, grapefruit, pine & mild cane sugar notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Mint, grapefruit, pine & faint cane sugar flavors; this seems to clash, on paper, but it's refreshing, flavorful and very enjoyable.

I had low expectations but I really liked this. I'd have another!

From the bottle, it pours a clear yellowy golden color with a nice white head that slowly diminishes. Lacing. The nose gets a whiff of Christmas tree with elements of pine. Taste is pleasant, with notes of spruce in it.

Golden hazy color, head is light but it sustains, as well as the lace. I don't detect many, if any fruit notes, quite piney though. The bitter is upfront and on the back, the bitterness stays on the tongue long.
Overall I like it but I like bitter overly hoppy beers. This came in a Bells seasonal pack, Holiday release.

Golden with a slight chill haze, generous white head, excellent retention and lace
Smells like a christmas tree soaked in two hearted.
Tastes more like a christmas tree than a two hearted. Too much more.
Medium bodied and appropriately carbonated
Maybe back off the spruce a little next time

12oz bottle, wine glass, bottled 10/8/21.

It’s a light gold and bright. The head is impressive in its stature and then the way it clings to the glass on the way down.

Straight sappy spruce tips. It cools the nostrils. There’s a little sugar cookie sweetness and herbal rosemary.

There’s a sweet sappy-ness to begin with that is complimented by some oily hops. Sweet, sticky, and not piney, but absolutely spot on like spruce or fur trees attack the senses.

Medium-light body with busy carbonation. Light but kind of middle of the road mouthfeel.

It might surprise that the flavor isn’t piney, but more fresh, more minty, more like spruce. So I guess maybe not that surprising.

12 oz. bottle dated 10/15/2021 - 6.50% ABV / 45 IBU
Brewed and bottled in Comstock, MI

Look - Pours a thick and fluffy white head that sticks to the glass. Clear golden yellow appearance with lots of streaming bubbles.
Smell - Mostly just picking up spruce in the scent, as expected.
Taste - Sharp and piney spruce bitterness in the taste upfront followed by maybe some citrus and malt. Can't taste any alcohol.
Feel - Somewhat thin bodied with a wet mouthfeel. Pretty smooth and easy to drink. Becomes more sharp and drying as the beer warms.
Overall - Great spruce flavor and refreshingly drinkable.
