12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.
Appearance: Reddish brown amber, pretty clear. Very small bubbly light brown head but poor retention and minor lacing.
Smell: A very malt forward aroma, I detect some grain smell along with sweet caramel and almost something smokey in there.
Taste: Much like the aroma, I'm hit with a very malt forward taste off the start along with some very earthy grain tastes, and some sweet caramel linger as well. The earthy taste lingers throughout the entire experience and finishes a bit dry.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate to high carbonation for a somewhat overall dry mouthfeel. Very pleasant overall.
Overall: I bought this beer to get another American take on the German style of Alt and I was pleased with this offering. The beer is simple enough but has enough complexity to keep things interesting. I'd definitely revisit this beer again.
