April 2014: Naparbier / HaandBryggeriet Eskua Saison.
Rerate cold on tap, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. More pleasant to drink now, but I am still not convinced that grape juice and caraway is the greatest combination in a beer. A nice experiment though. I’m upping it a couple points.
Original rating: Shared 750 ml bottle at hotel room tasting, thanks to OleR. ABV is 9.0%. Sampled too warm. Orange colour, white head. Spicy and yeasty aroma, also notes of grape juice. Moderately sweet flavour, noticeable caraway. I am not excited, but will re-rate when I sample a colder bottle (or on tap).

On-tap. Shaker glass. Pours bright gold in color, chill haze appearance. White foam is close while lasting crown is creamy. Aromas of yeast, slight tartar, herbal & green wood hues. Sweet maltiness touched by grape tannins at first sip. Medium to full body. Moderate carbonation. Spicy & spice mouthfeel. Intense herbal flavors –thanks to caraway- rounded by involving & fresh bitterness in the middle. Well integrated ABV is shown as a gentle heat. Low fruity & hints of grapes arise in a long sweet/bitter finish. Memories of Cava Semi Seco on the aftertaste. Complex as a Saison Style beer should be & refreshing as well.
