St. Feuillien has made a nice hybrid of the Saison Farm House Ale and a Stout-alike beer. Because of the stout elements, it will never be my favorite. Nice try though.
A: absolutely perfect, with big and small creamy bubbles, a lasting top on a almost black beer;
S: orange, citrus, very inviting;
T: in the taste the mixture comes through; it's an improved stout, but a bit too much coffee and caramel for me.
M: very good, a bit bitter ofcourse
O: nice invention.

A dark brown beer with an off-white head that forms a big head and slowly fades.
The smell is lightly roasted with notes of dates, candisugar, roast, chocolate and coffee. There is an anise-like freshness to the beer, probably derived from the hops. According the label a blend of American and European hops.
The taste is mostly coffee with some chocolate and mocca flavors. The dark malts add a lot more taste than the smell. The beer is low on sweetness, which gives the beer a nice maltbitterness. There are also some dark flavors like dates and molasses. The beer is not very bitter, but this adds to the balance of the beer. The beer is a nice crossover of styles.
