The waning days of summer have us thinking about more comforting beers, and Brendan’s latest effort on the 5 BBL fits the bill perfectly! Hustle pours a dark mocha color in the glass with a deep brown head, emitting rich aromas of chocolate, brown sugar, and even a hint of smoke... The bold flavor evolves beautifully in the glass buoyed by a lush mouthfeel - we taste fudgey chocolate, cocoa powder and robust roasted malts balanced properly by an assortment of sweet dark fruits. We imagine this one to be the perfect accompaniment to a late night by the fire with friends. . . A small yielding small batch - enjoy it while it lasts!

16 oz. can. Black body with a nice off-white head. Smells of milk chocolate and vanilla. Tastes of milk chocolate with an aggressive roasty and bitter finish. Well carbonated. Medium body. Solid porter.

Poured a dark opaque brown almost black with a 1-2 finger head.

Smelled of cocoa, coffee and roasty almost getting a hint of smoke.

Full bodied, roasty malts and chocolate/ cocoa with every sip.

Overall this is a fantastic American porter offering by TH. Definitely regretting not picking up more than one of these, especially seeing how it has been retired.

Solid, shiny black with a large, soft tan soufflé head.

Smell is roasted coffee, cocoa, nice fresh tobacco, and very smooth, savory malt. As it warms I start to get the aroma of a double chocolate cookie with a hint of cinnamon.

Taste is bittersweet cocoa with luscious, chocolate-covered whole coffee beans, mixed nuts, and hints of tangy toffee, caramel, molasses and ginger snaps in the finish.

Soft, frothy, a little chewy dry with a hint of Kahlua-like booze.

I just now realized this is my favorite dark brew out of Tree House thus far--this is relative to, among others, Double Shot w Costa Rican coffee beans, Single Shot w vanilla, and TWSS. Wow! It just goes to show, you don't need to throw a bunch of flavorings into the pot in order to make a delectable, wonderful, damn near perfect brew.

An outstanding Porter. Bold and rich tasting, bitter dark chocolate notes, and almost a hint of dark red wine. Perfect carbonation and feel. Beautiful dark color. Just a great beer. Get it when it's available.

Pounder can into a wine glass appears black in color with a brown cap.

Aroma is earthy and roasty char blending to chocolate, espresso and a hint of smoke.

Taste is quite hoppy with herbal bitterness, earthy char, espresso and slight fruity alcohol.

Medium to light in body with modest carbonation. Quite a hoppy brew but still lots of other roadtiness to it. Solid and worth seeking out.

A very good porter. Pours a very dark brown. Good roasty malts on the nose. Rich and creamy, I would almost call this one a stout. Personally I think this one is a bit underrated, but probably because of the style and the brewery is not known for it.
