Notes: A tradition that is as old as Dean at this point, we have brewed a big old batch of Double Shot that features a huge blend of beans from all of our favorite roasters. The result is a beer that is dark, fudgy, mysterious, and a mess of delicious coffee flavors from rich milk chocolate to smoke and caramel. It is perhaps the most intriguing and complex base Anniversary Double Shot in memory, and has us curious and intrigued what a blend of five or more coffees can do in the future. This is one of our very favorite beers any time of the year, and a beer that, with its unique presentation, mouthfeel, and flavor saturation, is unique to Tree House. Here it is rich yet powerful, and intense yet enjoyable. Enjoy.

Had this on pour at the brewery. When allowed to breath and open up, I was able to get the creamy, smokey, caramel notes described. I enjoyed this one more when it was cold, not as it opened up.

An overall amazing beer. Double Shots are my favorite beers they put out. Super creamy, possibly the smoothest DS I’ve had. Pours a thick mocha head with tons of lacing. Nice chocolate and vanilla notes. Coffee is present but not overly powerful. Probably closer to DS Costa Rica for me in terms of coffee notes. Nose is all coffee, dark chocolate and caramel. Really reminds me of Triple Shot in many ways. Amazing beer. Wish they’d bottle this one.

On tap at Tree House, June 27, 2018, 12 oz. pour

A tad, and I mean just a tad, less flavorful and impactful than the double shot I tried a year before. Dark, full of coffee and dairy, with cocoa notes and both nose and taste are a delightful experience. Easy drinking helped by IPA being kept in the stratosphere, but still something to savor.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewery today.

A - Poured into a standard tulip a nice dark black with a good one finger head that fades to leave light wisps and a thin halo. Great legs.

S - Aromas of nice dark chocolate, vanilla, bakers chocolate, fudge. Nice roasted malts.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with nice bright chocolate notes, not overly sweet. Little bittersweet chocolate, bakers as well, vanilla fudge, almost cookie like.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, creamy, thick, good body. Quite nice.

O - Overall this was a very solid stout with great chocolate notes. Alcohol hidden quite well too.

Draft at the brewery
Huge pillowy creamy thick mocha head, 1 finger retains forever, thick as Guinness, pitch black beer, thick lacing and long legs

Nose fresh nutty coffee, super nutty, also caramel and plenty of bakers chocolate, Dutch cocoa, fresh roasted mild coffee, some vanilla and an almost coconut aroma, little marshmallowy nougat candy

Taste big nutty fresh coffee, again fresh mild roast but a little roasty malt flavor, some caramel, loads of dark chocolate and Dutch cocoa, creamy milk chocolate oatmeal, mild vanilla again, little candy nougat and marshmallow again, a bit of acidity from the coffee likely, and mild tannins from the roast with mild bitterness, sticky finish hint of alcohol, long lingering roasted coffee and Dutch chocolate

Mouth is full bod rich creamy thick nice fluffy carb, hint of alcohol but barely

Overall awesome, great blend, good coffee levels, nice roast level, good other flavors, very tasty and smooth

Draft at Tree House Brewing.

Opaque black appearance, with very small bubble foam head. Sooo much coffee in the aroma and flavor. But as it warmed you also got a good bit of rich chocolate. Dark and roasty. Creamy mouthfeel. Very good.

Poured on draft at the brewery.

Pours a jet black color with a finger of creamy caramel head. The head leaves some cobwebs as it settles into a thin sheet.

The aroma is surprisingly muted. There's notes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and a touch of vanilla. Good, but disappointing.

The flavor tho. Just give me a funnel so I can pour this thick, viscous fluid down my gullet. So much milk chocolate, chocolate fudge, and chocolate graham crackers. Then comes the modest wave of coffee, adding a nice roasted bitterness that balances out the chocolate apocalypse. The chocalypse. There's some notes of vanilla, cream, and roasted malts before a kiss of hops on the finish. I'd let this beer have its way with me.

The feel is full bodied. We're talking Terry Crews full bodied. Thicker than oatmeal. Thicker than your m.... nevermind. It's creamy and smooth and pillowy soft with just enough syrup character to remind you of the alcohol.

Overall, whilst this is not the best, nor the most balanced Double Shot variant, it's still literal sex in my mouth. The aroma disappoints but the flavor barges through like a lumberjack coming to give me his seed. Decadent, yet balanced and incredibly full bodied. This is a beer you have to eat.

Typical Tree House gorgeous appearance; terrific head. Not much aroma while cold, even warmed up I'm not getting a lot beyond coffee and sweet. Initial sensation is viscous syrup. As usual, the flavor mellows as it warms. This is the first Tree House stout that I have immediately longed for another. Certainly worth trying, but not a lot beyond that for me this time around.
