Notes: Brewed for, and released at, the Tree House Brewing Company Sixth Anniversary Party.

We have seen the light and this is it. Waves of maple and rich milk chocolate wash over the palate and build in balance and intensity in the glass as it is allowed to warm. Though rich, fluffy, and decadent, this beer never weighs down the palate but punches above it’s alcohol weight in flavor. It’s the kind of beer that makes us smile uncontrollably when taking a sip.

Had on tap. Pours opaque, dark black in color with 1/2 inch head. Taste is huge maple and dark chocolate with white sugar. Heavy bodied, moderate carbonation, sweet. Makes for an excellent dessert stout. I will be looking for this again.

On draft at Tree House. Snifter glass. Dark black body, cola coloured one finger white head, good retention, has fair bit of splotchy sugary particles in it that hang around the glass rim, actually for quite a while. So, lots of sugary particles- promising. Beer is more or less big maple and creamy milk chocolate. Fudge, a bit of cocoa, smooth. A bit of earth as well, not particularly roasty. Sweet. Medium bodied, slightly low on carbonation, silky smooth and creamy milk chocolate, delicious sugary attenuation goodness. A nice dessert-like beer.

This is Moment of Clarity W/ Extra Maple & Chocolate Truffle. Enjoyed on tap at the brewery.

A - Poured into a custom Tree House snifter a nice dark brown almost black with a nice one finger mocha head that fades to leave a wispy creamy blanket with solid lacing.

S - Aromas of big, bold maple syrup. Sweet but not cloy. Good quality amber. Nice chocolate notes, though they're certainly overpowered by the maple. Coffee is pleasant and nicely roasted, however, that too is overpowered by maple. Smells like breakfast. Incredibly maple forward with flashes of creamy chocolate.

T - Taste is similar to the nose but far more balanced. Chocolate hits first with rich bakers chocolate, dark cacao galore. Very fudgy. Coffee is nicely balanced, good roast without any acrid finish. The maple rounds things out pleasantly. While the maple is certainly aggressive it balances the richness and roast of the chocolate and coffee quite nicely. Good malt backbone.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, creamy, smooth. Good body. Not overly thick, lighter, which is more akin to the style. Due to all the maple though it does come across sticky and just almost almost cloy.

O - Overall this was a very, very nicely done milk stout. The maple is most definitely on the aggressive side throughout the beer and as such elbows it's way past everything. It's also quite sweet. Like...Southern Tier level with a sprinkling of Wilford Brimley beetus. I think the regular on tap version was much better and far more balanced.

Amazing. Thick, rich, sweet, complex full-bodied. Syrupy mouth feel in the way I want syrupy to bem. Excellent cold; out-of-this-world warm.

This will be too sweet, too rich for people who are sensitive to that. Me? I'll be at Tree House for a pour every day it remains on tap.
