L - downright decadent-looking creamy head. Looks like puddng. The rest of the beer is pitch brown like motor oil.
S - massive milk chocolatey punch up front. Heavy on the earthy, raw coffee bean. Getting a deep, dark fruitiness. Blueberries and blackberries. Throw in some brown sugar and sweet caramel candy.
T - more of the nose with molasses and caramel drizzle out the wazoo. Fudgy and tight-knit pockets of sugary goodness. Dark chocolate and dark roast bitterness, but a far cry from OG Expressionism. I can see where the cognac descriptor comes from. Syrupy, yet crisp and wintry on the finish to remind you that this isn't another milk stout.
F - something seems wrong here. A little shocked. Up front we have that signature Tree House fluff creaminess but the the carbon dioxide seems to separate from the rest of the beer. Like a gas carb gone wrong. The slightest jostle in the mouth causes it to foam and I'm left swallowing air. Bummer. At least the burps taste good.
O - loved the nose on this. Flavor met expectations, but I'm always a little bummed when it doesn't beat expectations. Where the original was a brilliant departure from the cloying sweetness, this kinda brings it back. It's a fun beer though and I can't fault TH from going balls to the wall on their variants. When they advertise a flavor, boy oh boy you are getting it.
