Enjoyed on tap at the brewery.
A - Poured into a standard tulip a nice dark brown almost black with a nice one finger dark mocha head that fades to leave very very nice lacing and a creamy blanket. Excellent legs.
S - Aromas of simply enormous toasted coconut flakes. It's such an assertive coconut flavour it borders on coconut suntan lotion. Still though there are big dark chocolate and cacao nibs. Very nice roasted dark malts and espresso. Light vanilla cream and good light nuttiness and nougat. Make no mistake though this is a coconut bomb.
T - Taste is similar to the nose with nice flash of vanilla nougat. Big dark malts, light roast, nice slightly bitter espresso which lingers. The finish has a lingering alcohol note though along with a touch of acridness. Very little caramel sweetness as well. The bitterness on the finish is like biting into a 90%+ dark chocolate bar. Make no mistake though this is a coconut bomb. Toasted coconut and raw coconut as well as cooked sticky confection coconut. Mounds bar esc.
M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, little heavy, creamy, flashes of the ABV though especially on the finish. Certainly drinks like it's double digits.
O - Overall this was a very solid imperial stout from Tree House. Really pleasant dark chocolate and coffee elements, however, the coconut borderline overpowers the rest of the beer. Still, I'd happily drink this any time.
