We have seen the light and this is it. Waves of maple and rich milk chocolate wash over the palate and build in balance and intensity in the glass as it is allowed to warm. Though rich, fluffy, and decadent, this beer never weighs down the palate but punches above its alcohol weight in flavor. It’s the kind of beer that makes us smile uncontrollably when taking a sip.

Had on tap at Charlton. Pours opaque, jet black in color with one quarter inch head. Taste is huge maple, chocolate, and roasted malt. Heavy body, low carbonation, sweet. Excellent beer if not for all the maple alone. Nice dessert treat.

Holy maple!
Very little to flaw in the appearance: a very attractive beer, with a firm and long-lasting dark brown head.
Maple syrup leads the way on the nose, along with chocolate and molasses.
This follows on the palate: it's extremely sweet, as maple nearly drowns out everything else. That's excellent if you're prepared for it, but it could easily be overwhelming if you are not. There's a distinct chocolate tone hiding beneath, along with a bit of earthiness.
This beer drinks shockingly big for its ABV. In one way, that's a detriment, as it feels like a double digit beer. In most ways, however, it's a very pleasant aspect to the beer: it's big, chewy, thick, and smooth.
100% a dessert beer, with maple being by far the dominant character.

Served an inky black with a tight, mocha-colored head embedded with pinpricks. Nose smells like a Lindt truffle dipped in maple syrup. Taste follows nose - Wow, just wow! This is one decadent beer. Very sweet, but fortunately a pleasant roasted coffee character helps to cut the sweetness, albeit it is still a bit cloying. A roasted quality lingers nicely between quaffs as the brew warms. Mouthfeel is medium, approaching heavy, with a viscous texture and an easy, even carbonation. Overall, this beer is exquisite and delicious. As noted in the description, it punches well above it's abv. That said, a little does go a long way. Six ounces would have been the perfect serving size.
