Following the milestone of Curiosity One Hundred, and celebrating a tremendous run of successful and delicious offerings, we are delighted to present Curiosity One Hundred One today for your enjoyment!
Curiosity One Hundred One finds us reinvigorated with our creative spirit and challenging and any all preconceived notions we hold about brewing. Back to basics, in a sense. To commemorate this, we have asked our artist friend Dean McKeever to approach his illustrations in a stripped down manner, similar to the original Curiosity cans, as we embark on the centennial season of Curiosity! With this approach, it’s amazing to see how much Dean has grown as an artist as even with simple pen and ink he creates something worthy of celebration!
Brewed with Golden Promise as a base malt, a first for us, and a blend of juicy American hops featuring Comet! It pours a lovely orange color in the glass and features notes of zesty citrus, dank grapefruit, soft lemongrass, and sugar kiss melon! The malt provides a sturdy base and contributes to a delicate and appealing mouth-feel. What a treat!

L - keep confusing this one with C102. Basically the same label! Pours a pink-hued grapefruit juice mixed with mango juice. Thick, sludgey haze. It really does glow a deep, resonating reddish orange. Minimal head, but there's at least somewhat of a ring of lacing left behind.
S - fruit punch and more straightforward fruit candy flavors as opposed to the typical tropical juiciness. A touch of Juicy Juice, raspberry, and oniony staleness. Some icy melon comes out toward the end with a touch of grape bubblegum.
T - hoppy and bitey, moreso than typical TH fare. Features light fruitiness with flavors of satsuma, peach, and strawberry. That pleasant juice is squished between hoppiness and raw pithy zestiness. Finishes mealy and semi-dry with minimal bitterness, despite the punchiness contained within.
F - flowing and silky. I fear I'm becoming desensitized to what a great mouthfeel feels like... until I drink a Trillium or pretty much any other NEIPA. Tree House is still on top by a huge margin in this department.
O - the description mentions a "back to basics" vibe and I can see that. Based on what this tastes like, that means a simpler, less vibrant beer with delicious, but light and fleeting, flavors and more of an earthy bitterness. It's good, but feels like a shell of a Curiosity beer, especially when sandwiched between the incredible C100 and C102 close on its tail.

This was part of a slew of beers that my friend picked up at Tree House recently, as I was eager to give it a go. Love anything in this series as this was on par with everything else that I had from them. Smooth, juicy, and easy to quaff, this was a sweet beer that was easy to get accustomed to once the initial taste kicked in!
Not a bad pour to this as the beer looked golden, hazy, and moderately bright as there wasn't any sediment floating in it. Lots of Golden Promise and subdued wheat in the nose with some soft citrus and melon dankness underneath that, as this had a clean pour with a moderate head topping it off. Most of the lacing left behind was in the form of a thick rocky head near the top that bled down in spots with some lesser hints of rings below that. Zesty orange and hints of melon dankness were underneath that as hints of booze, Comet and soft lemongrass entered the fray with an outdoorsy, dank sense left on the palate. Dank melon and subtle natural hops lingered in the aftertaste as this felt like a homemade brew that tingled in the aftertaste with hints of mint and swamp that stayed for the duration.
Enough booze was in this but I never felt like this was too strong or potent as it was on par with the flavors that were inherent in this. Canned on 8/27 with "WHY SO CURIOUS?" written above it, this was a lovely beer with equal parts malt and sweetness that left me wanting more in the end. Somehow, the sugar kiss melon tied everything in together as this was a beer that was unfamiliar, but not completely exotic or inaccessible at the same time. Please, keep these coming!
