Following on the wonderfully successful Jingle Juice, Jolly Juice is also brewed utilizing an intriguing ingredient paired with an onslaught of hops.

By steeping dried Osmanthus flower in the wort during every phase of the process, we are able to extract incredible stone fruit-like character from this marvelous and mysterious ingredient.

The resulting beer is highly enjoyable for its unique nature with floral stone fruit notes, ripe peach, and mild acidity that results from the use of this rare ingredient.

This is such a compelling series and we are pleased once again to share it with you.

5.5-week-old can poured into a snifter.

Attractive orange-gold coloring with a creamy haze, attractive glow, and just a touch of murk. Modest initial head of tight, white bubbles with minimal retention and a sparse lacing. Great looking juice but the head is a touch lacking, otherwise it would get even higher marks.

Awesome nose that’s fruity, floral, sweet, and pithy. Tons of citrus juice, a familiar TH bubble gum note, candied pineapple, mango, and apricot, a little berry medley, and some nice white peach. Honeysuckle, a little bit of pine, and some distinct grapefruit rind. Nice herbal and floral balance but I can't really place any specific notes. Not the best nose I've experienced on a TH hazy, but it's still outstanding.

Taste covers a handful of those notes but is dominated by a combination of starchy greens, a blend of different citrus, tropical, and stone fruits, a piney kick, a good amount of bitter pith, and a very strong floral/herbal note that I assume comes from the Osmanthus flower. Highly drinkable, very much a TH beer, but the sweetness on the nose is almost nonexistent (except for the very, very front end of each sip) on the tongue as the bitter, green, and floral notes really take over. Finish is bitter and pithy.

Soft, creamy, and velvety. Medium-bodied, at best, but there's a nice coating element that doesn't come off as sticky or chewy.

Poured from a can dated 11/28/23
Dull yellow cloudy appearance, white soapy head, nice lacing and thin cap
Aroma is sweet candy smelling with pine and mango notes
Taste starts out kind of sweet but turns decidedly dry and bitter, mango, pine and bitter fruit rind
Mouthfeel is kind of light, medium carbonation and pretty astringent, finishes very dry
Overall it has a nice aroma but the taste do reflect the aroma in the sense that it is not sweet tasting. That being said it’s pretty easy drinking and it you like your beers on the bitter dry side this is it.

From a 16oz can, dated 11/27/23. Served in an IPA glass.

Pours a thin appearing, dull and dirty orange with a finger of soft, soapy suds. Retention is unremarkable but leaves a creamy cap and collar and a solid sheet of foamy lacing.

Nose is cakey-sweet and mildly fruity. Aromas of peach and vanilla cupcake.

Taste does a 180° to the nose being thin and acrid. Tasting peach, apricot, and bergamot or bitter orange.

Feel is thin and juicy, relatively light bodied with fine, zesty carbonation. The finish is somewhat watery and acidic.

Overall, I can’t say that I’m super impressed here. I admit I hadn’t heard of osmanthus before this. I understand that it’s used to brew tea and to make wine and that the flowers are quite pretty. But I didn’t enjoy it in my beer. And I’m a little concerned about what the acidity is doing to my tooth enamel.

Pours a completely opaque dirty straw color with a finger of head. The nose has dank notes as well as the essence of overripened citrus fruits. The flavor profile is grainy and lemony with modest bitterness on the finish. The body is hearty for the style.

If this were any other brewery on earth, I'd say that this offering is very good. But, for TH, it's middling.

Pours murky, gold in color with one inch head. Taste is dried apricot, flowers and starfruit. Medium body, moderate carbonation, dry, bitter. Not bad, different but Tree House does much better. Will be curious to try this next to osmanthus tea.
