‘Tis The Season is our Smoked Robust Porter.

Brewed with a complex assortment of chocolate, caramel, and smoked malts, it carries an immense amount of character and intrigue fitting for the season.

Pouring a pitch-black color in the glass with a dense and rocky head, ’Tis The Season tastes like melted chocolate bars, dark caramel, and molten toffee with a pleasant whisper of campfire smoke throughout.

Hearty, rich, characterful, and easy to drink, ‘Tis The Season pairs perfectly with cooler weather.

We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my snifter. There is no date stamp on my can, which is weird for TH. I picked it up at the brewery sometime in the past 8 months. Been waiting to open it for no particular reason.
the beer pours a dark cola brown and rests slightly darker in the glass. A fizzy dense tan head of 1 cm foams up from the pour. this foam fades to a super thin edge layering soon after the pour and leaves the faintest lacing on swirls or sips from the glass.
Aroma is dark malts, and chocolate with a solid dose of smoked wood and burnt notes. Not quite smoked sausage degree, but definitely charred wood and ash. No hint of any hops at this point and the ABV is hidden too.
First sip reveals a medium body with smooth texture and very fine tingly carbonation. Beer drinks very easy on physical traits.
Flavor is similar to the nose with roasted malts and dark chocolate, but then allows some smoked wood and ash to come through and this flavor lingers after each swallow. The hops are absent and again no hint of the booze in this beer.
A nice solid porter that delivers on the smoked promise without being totally one dimensional. I enjoy this one and am glad to have purchased this can.

Poured from 16oz can into pint glass in July 2023, that I purchased at their brewery in Charlton, MA. There is a date of "Winter 2022" on the bottom of the can, with the comment "I Love Snowflakes". I drank this about 3 months after I purchased it.

Appearance: Very dark black with 1-finger head. The head was dark brown, and disappeared after a minute. It left only a little lacing on the glass, and no head remained after a minute.

Smell: Strong mix of aromas filled the room as soon as the can was opened. Roasted coffee, coffee, and chocolate aromas. Not much hop style citrus or pine aromas.

Taste: There is pronounced taste of coffee, chocolate, and smoked malts. Also, some vanilla, peanut butter, and roasted malt flavors. They are more balanced than I expected from the aroma. Flavors are very bold. There is a strong alcohol presence that matches 8.2% advertised. A balanced coffee, smoked malt, chocolate, and vanilla aftertaste that is really enjoyable.

Mouth-feel: Very thick, but with an extremely smooth and creamy body.

This is a very good Porter. It has a variety of flavors that adds a nice complexity to the beer. The balance of flavors is very good. The flavors of coffee and roasted malt nicely balance the bitter coffee with the sweet chocolate and caramel flavors. Another very good offering from Tree House. This is very smooth and enjoyable to drink. I have enjoyed all the beers I've bought at Tree House, and I would buy this again.

Pours a somewhat effervescent mahogany/ebony with one pinky of mocha colored head. Head rapidly disappears. Viscous, zero head retention & lacing

S: Smokey, roasty

T: follows the nose, also dryness & Baker's chocolate up front. Roasty dryness, charred grains, & a touch of chocolate & caramel once this beer warms through. Finishes roasty, dry & smokey with just a little dark chocolate ( like the 100% variety )

MF: Medium/chewy body with minimal carbonation. A little bit more carbonation, becomes silky smooth once warm

This seems like a throwback to beers made 200+ years ago, very nice, a bit of a sipper for sure

Pours a deep dark brown color with a half finger of head. The nose has only faint notes of roast and smoke. The flavor profile is dominated by bitter baking chocolate notes. The finish seems almost like burnt chocolate.

This is certainly a decent beer but it is a rare swing and miss by TH standards.

Poured from a 16oz can into a large snifter. Pitch black with a finger of a mocha head. Smoke aroma is subtle but there initially. Smell reminds me a bit of Stone Smoked Porter. Taste and finish is similar to other Tree House Porters, and smoked malt is subtle. Don’t notice the alcohol at 8.2%, but it is a rich porter. It didn’t seem particularly unique from other Tree House Porter styles, and the smoke isn’t that strong, but still a solid beer.

16oz can.

Pours mostly opaque dark brown with a short-lived head of tan. Zero retention or lacing. Dark chocolate with hints of espresso and smoke in the nose. Medium bodied with a thinnish mouthfeel. Bakers chocolate, coffee, and light smoke on the palate. Finishes fairly dry with faint smoke.

Decanted from 16 oz (473 ml) can into a snifter glass; canned 11/22/20, code TO BE JOLLY, FA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LAAAA.
A: Pour a very dark brown to black with a one finger, light brown head, rim retention and spare, short-lived lacing.
S: Aromas of dark chocolate, sarsaparilla, and honey, and caramel predominate throughout with a distinct charcoal note that increases as in warms.
T: Pretty dry, more dry than sweet. Aromas contribute many of the flavor elements: dark chocolate, sarsaparilla, cola, caramel, and fire charred wood. Bitterness subtle but blends with the bitterness.
M: Medium bodied with medium to strong carbonation.
O: A very nice winter brew for the fireside. Be merry.

look: 95% black, mocha head dissolves into the beer very quickly, and you get a black liquid with no head at all

smell: some smoke and malt

taste: very smoky and malty,

feel: thin, not boozy, fluffy,

overall: decent but I think there are actually other porter out there better than this one
