Following on the success of Blue comes this treat - Big Blue! Big Blue is an all Mosaic double IPA featuring a mostly pale grist, a mountain of oats, and a kiss of honey malt. It is constructed with a sturdy base to accept the onslaught of hops applied during every stage of the brewing process. We taste and smell ripe clementine, dank blueberry, juicy apricot, and pineapple cream. As a pure representation of hand-selected Mosaic hops, Big Blue is just outstanding!

Drinking out of a Treehouse snifter.
Pours a somewhat hazy dark orange with a full head.
Smells of pineapple with hints of biscuit.
Nice thick mouth feel.
Some up-front bitterness like a WCIPA, but hints of apricot and pineapple.

Been enjoying tasting individual hop beers in order to learn what the different hops taste like. Mosaic seems to have kinda of a smokey toasted flavor to it. Not my favorite, but that, I'm sure, is personal preference. Great mouthfeel and looks beautiful in a glass, lots of foam.

Good head production; decent retention, and excellent lacing.
Aroma is moderately pungent and dank, with notes of black pepper, grassy herbs, overripe peach and mango, and lemon zest. Not quite as juicy and fruity as Mosaic often comes across.
Definitely an all-Mosaic brew on the palate, coming across as almost explosively juicy while retaining that pungent, almost dirty, dankness. Notes of papaya, mango, lemon, pepper, pineapple, tangerine.
Really lovely brew that showcases Mosaic hops and drinks much easier than the 8.4% ABV suggests it should.

I had Blue several years ago, and it stands out as the first time I'd gotten blueberry notes from Mosaic hops. This is its bigger brother.
Looks like pretty much every Treehouse DIPA - opaque gold with a strong head that slowly disperses leaving plenty of lacing on the glass. Smell is a little muted (for Treehouse), but the flavor makes up for that. The Mosaic berry notes are definitely there, along with tangerine and a decent amount of bitterness. Typical Treehouse mouthfeel.
