Bottle at share. Dark, opaque brown with a small foamy tan head. Rum barrels prominent in the aroma, sweet malts, savory notes. Taste adds cinnamon and vanilla, brown suagr. Super sweet and sticky and lots of booze.

Pours deep reddish brown. Strong, sweet complex aroma - dominated by banana with hints of booziness, brown sugar & caramel. Incredible taste. Follows nose with banana but the sweetness of the brown sugar & caramel are enjoyably much more present as is the booziness. Full bodied. Wish i had more bottles.

12oz. waxed and capped bottle into a Brooklyn Brewery snifter. Shared with schen9303.
Moderately light mahogany color with huge legs that stick around. Nose is full of banana. Overtones of caramel, brown sugar, booze, and molasses. Sweet and the brown sugar notes complement the banana perfectly. Super aromatic too. Beer opens brown sugar, banana icing, and sweet molasses. Toffee, caramel, hazelnut, and sweet booze in the middle. More banana throughout. Nuttiness towards the end with a sweet, syrupy finish and aftertaste. Full bodied with low carbonation. Slick and oily on the palate and goes down hot with a long, lingering aftertaste. Perfect for the style.
I'm not sure that the banana presence adds to this beer though it is interesting for sure. The base barleywine underneath is quite good though.
