Vanilla doesn't belong in an IPA. I just realized that when I cracked this one. Took about 2-3 sips then gave it to my buddy. Not the biggest fan of orange creamsicles so this didn't work for me.

16oz can dated 8/25/21.
Pours cloudy yellow with an inch of white head. Minimal retention or lacing. Strong vanilla in the nose with orange sherbet following through. Medium bodied with a soft but slightly chalky mouthfeel. Vanilla with pithy citrus on the palate. Finishes fairly bitter with minimal malt and lingering vanilla.

If you are expecting a completely different taste from a Tree House IPA . . . . here it is! Looks like a standard straw world class pour from all the other TH IPAs. The smell . . .what is that smell? Toffee? Caramel? A White Mocha Latte? Nope . . .first sip was like eating a chewy toffee with a vanilla finish. So different! Tasty and keeps you sipping more to try and figure out what other tastes are in the glass. The feel was not chewy or soft but clean and fresh. Variety is the spice of life and this variety is a welcome treat!

Canned 8/25/21. “How curious are you?“ stamped on the bottom of the can
So this is the first time Tree House has done a “half” in their Curiosity series (at least to my knowledge. It’s just the 118 with vanilla beans added. I’m actually regretting not picking up the regular one just to compare, but oh well. I’m excited to see what they can do with vanilla in an IPA
Pours a hazy pale gold with 3 fingers of fluffy white head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves minimal lacing
The vanilla is very evident in the nose, but it feels very authentic, and even carries a bit of a creamy coffee note, but very light. I’m picking up on aromas of French vanilla, orange juice, cantaloupe, overripe mango, doughy malt, light floral hops, and just a touch of coffee
The vanilla isn’t exactly subtle in taste, but it’s definitely more balanced than the aroma. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting cantaloupe, pineapple juice, doughy malt, creamy vanilla, earthy hops, and orange rind. The swallow brings notes of rich vanilla, caramel malt, cantaloupe, papaya, damk mango, grassy hops, and toasted grain
A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a surprisingly crisp and clean beer. Finishes slightly sticky with a nice sweetness
This one was really nice. I expected it to be a bit out of balance but it wasn’t too sweet. I hope they revisit it at some point

Picked-up two cans at Tree House in Sandwich for about thirteen dollars. My one hundred and eighty third brew from these guys. This is absolutely outstanding.

Amazing burnt yellow color and startling opacity.
Significant vanilla on the nose with notes of candied orange.
Super juicy flavor but vanilla dominates a bit with orange coming through after. Not many other flavors besides that.
Spectacular mouth feel. While not much bitterness the hops tickle the inside of the mouth and the body is the perfect viscosity—it’s thick but that compliments the beer very well.
Overall, the mouthfeel itself makes the beer impressive though the extra vanilla may be a bit overpowering. I’m trying this one before I try the Curiosity One Hundred Eighteen so we’ll see if vanilla is more subtle there.
