Idle Mind is our Vienna Lager. Crafted with a complex mashing program utilizing Vienna malts and garnished with aromatic malts, it is a surprisingly complex and interesting beer. Pouring a golden amber color in the glass, it carries notes of caramel, biscuit, and honey sweetness balanced by sturdy noble hops. Highly drinkable yet characterful, Idle Mind is an ideal beverage to enjoy with colorful leaves and crisp New England air.

Poured from a can into a tree house tulip glass
Appearance – The beer pours a deep amber color with a small head of of-white foam. The head has a good level of retention, fading slowly and leaving a good sum of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is strong of a lightly toasted bready and caramel smell mixed with a bit of toffee and some biscuit. Along with these aromas comes a note of hay and must as well as a touch of earthiness.
Taste – The taste begins with a lightly toasted biscuit and bready malt base mixed with some toffee and caramel that were in the nose. The sweet is light overall, with the malt being the base of the taste profile. At the same time there is a bit of apple and a touch of hay, with these getting stronger as the taste advances. All the while some more graininess and a bit of earthiness develop, leaving one with a rather calm and clean Vienna lager taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body is medium in thickness and crispness with a moderate carbonation level.
Overall – A pretty nice Vienna style lager. Very easy drinking.

Amber color and nearly clear. Decent starting head but it settles to primarily rim bubbles. No lasting lace.
Robust toasted malt aroma, similar to baking bread. There's seems to be a light alcohol present. No notable hop.
Lowly carbonated with a neutral body for the style. There's a light sweetness to the taste which creates some complexity against the toasted white bread flavors. Again, there's a bit of alcohol warmth on the tongue. Interestingly, while the finish is malty, there is some hop presence, making the swallow and aftertaste more complex than most Vienna Lagers.

From a 16oz can dated Autumn 2024 into a pint glass.
Pours a slightly murky orangish brown with maybe one finger of off-white head.
Nice aroma if sweet bread and caramel.
Taste follows. Add in light honey and a touch of peppery bitterness.
Nice full-bodied mouthfeel. Low carbonation.
Nice beer. Don't sleep on their lagers.

Tree House Brewing Co. "Idle Mind"
16 fl. oz. can coded "KEEP BUSY 04/13/22 09:38:09" and sampled on 05/26/22
$14.20/4-pk at the brewery on 05/12/22
Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a slightly hazy deep copper colored body beneath an inch and a half of off-white foam. The aroma is gently sweetish, toasty, and lightly caramelish with only a smear of leafy hops comes through in the background. The taste is much fuller than the aroma lets on with a sweet, bready, caramelish, biscuity, and toasty malt threaded through with floral, grassy, and lightly spicy hops. A stiff bitterness runs through it and dries it in the finish with some earthiness coming out. The malt and earthiness pass quickly leaving only the grassy and spicy hops to linger. In the mouth it's medium bodied and crisp. I have to say that I wasn't anticipating this being as good as it is based on some of the other Tree House European-style lagers. This, however, is right on point. It's bright and lively with all cylinders firing while still maintaining a great balance. Excellent!

Had on tap at Sandwich. Pours clear, amber in color with 1/4inch head. Taste is dark bread and toasted malt. Medium light body, moderate carbonation, sweet and toasty. Wow. One of the best domestic versions of this style I have had. I honestly do not know how they could improve this one. Super clean and goes down way too easy. An all day beer.

16 oz can poured into a tulip pint glass. Pours a clear caramel color with a fluffy off-white head that slowly fades away. Aroma and flavor feature biscuit malt, noble (floral) hops, dry crackers, caramel malt, and a hint of honey. Mouthfeel is crisp and smooth with no alcohol presence. Overall, it is delicious and a joy to drink. I need more beer like this in my life.
