Barrel-aged Space & Time Vanilla is a double mash, extended boil Imperial Stout infused with whole bean vanilla of various origins. A blend of fresh and barrel-aged Space & Time, it is pure, rugged, and laced with bold flavor as a function of the extraordinary efforts that went into creating it. Amid a world of overt sweetness, Barrel-aged Space & Time Vanilla rebels, with intense notes of dark chocolate, roasted malts, chocolate bourbon candy, vanilla cocoa, and a firm bitterness that entices your next sip.

750mL bottle undated, released 2022, drunk 5/28/22.
Dark mahogany, no head.
Big, big, luscious vanilla. Chocolate, fudge, boozey, light bourbon spice.
Strong. Soft, malty, sweet, huge vanilla. Too sweet. Syrupy. Meh, love tree house but this is pretty sugary and vanilla dominated.

Dark brown oily appearance with a moist tight tan head that recedes slowly to a surface film, decent retention, some spotty lacing. Vanilla, sweet bourbon, dark fudge. Medium to thick body, mild carbonation. Delicious, wish Tree House did more barrel aging.

APPEARANCE
Pitch black body with a dense, creamy, dark brown head

AROMA
Huge bourbon and dark chocolate. The vanilla is coming through pretty big and giving a marshmallow feeling. Think of it as a melted version of those marshmallow Pinwheel cookies. I know, right?

TASTE
I would say, more than anything, this is a milk and dark chocolate bomb. The bourbon is sweet and smooth without being too boozy. The vanilla has taken a backseat to the massive coffee and chocolate, but it still present enough. Up front is that black coffee which retains some bitterness, but the second half is just wave after wave of chocolate. Minor barrel character such as char and oak are as subtle as the vanilla.

MOUTHFEEL
So smooth, soft, and creamy. As stated previously, there is virtually no alcohol warmth or burning. Despite being overloaded with decadent dessert flavors, this really is easy to drink.

OVERALL
A superb BA stout. Does vanilla really pop? No, but it doesn't need to. The abundance of chocolate, coffee, and bourbon make up for any shortcomings.

Decent head production (given the style and ABV); fairly poor retention regardless. Body is impressively black and almost shiny smooth, like a liquid hunk of obsidian.

Big, bold, boozy aroma, impressively reminiscent of vanilla Bourbon County (despite clocking in at roughly 2/3 the ABV of BCBS). Bourbon, alcohol, chocolate, molasses, caramel, toffee, vanilla, oak.

Flavor follows. This is a top-notch vanilla BBA imperial stout. Flavor is not restrained in any way, allowing everything to rush together in a glorious melange of bourbon, oak, vanilla, coffee, chocolate, toast, caramel, toffee, pecan. Moderately sweet, but not quite a dessert stout. Toasty notes are quite strong - pleasantly so.

Thick and chewy; a touch hot, but certainly very approachable.

This is just stupid good. It's very rare that you encounter a beer that can instantly bring you back to your early days of beer geekery, a beer that is masterfully crafted, somehow balanced despite being almost over the top flavorful. That they pull this off without even breaking double digit ABV is even more impressive.

This is about as good as it gets, really reminding me of peak BCBS. The vanilla isn't quite as strong as perhaps some would prefer.
