Tree of Tranquility is a barleywine aged in Madeira and Sherry barrels and then conditioned atop pineapple and vanilla. Pouring a very dark brown color into the glass, it presents with notes of ripe pineapple, burnt sugar, caramel, molasses, and mixed dried fruit magnified by a gentle and syrupy mouthfeel. Warming notes of Madeira and Sherry round out this truly unique beverage that will age gracefully over time. Share it, and sip it slowly as you would a fine spirit. Enjoy!

Yes, syrupy oil, lots of Sherry dominated sweetness, drops of pineapple in some drops - that was the best. Dark and rich looking, but rich from oiliness. Held up well.

Pours very dark brown, almost black. I poured at fridge temp, with the result that there was minimal nose - mainly vanilla; as the beer warmed I got notes of dark fruit and booze, but the vanilla was still dominant. A slight pineapple aroma, but that could just have been suggestion. The pineapple is there on the taste though, along with sherry, and it somehow works.

Reasonably attractive beer, especially on the pour out of the bottle, where the reddish brown was most prominent. Decent legs.

Aroma was a little disappointing. Nothing bad about it, just much more muted than I expected based on the brewer's potentially hyperbolic description. I get some fruit and molasses but nothing that stands out.

Thankfully the flavors are more prominent on the tongue than the nose. Vanilla and sherry combine with moderate caramel notes, with pineapple showing up on the finish. Somehow, the pineapple works, which is a little bit of a surprise.

Overall, a nice sipper.

Pours a dirty cola brown color, very few bubbles, looks nearly still.

Initially there's not much on the nose. Eventually it blooms and my immediate impression is what is eventually the top of a pineapple upside down cake. Sweet and caramelized brown sugar, cooked pineapple, molasses. Definite smells of the sherry and Madeira, not much vanilla but a little. Lots of dark fruit intensity - figs, dates, dark cherries, even a bit of prune.

Ok..this is only working for me a little bit. Fortunately not as sweet as the smell suggests, but the pineapple begins to stick out with kind of an odd green tangy note. The sherry and Madeira try to balance it off, but only partially succeed and end up a bit harsh. Trace of vanilla. Brown sugar and molasses. There is a tingle of spice at the end.

Feel is full bodied bordering syrupy. It's sweet, yet drying. Lots of carryover pineapple and caramelized sugar.

I think it is a good barleywine suffering from "if some is good more is better" syndrome...too much pineapple that just doesn't fit in. I'm not entirely sure the pineapple would ever fit in, though. So overall, I don't like it. Is it what they intended to make - yes - it seems to agree with their notes.

This one pours a dark-ish brown color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.

This smells like dried or caramelized pineapple, vanilla, sherry, dark fruit, caramel, and toffee.

This shouldn’t work, but it kind of does. The pineapple and vanilla additions are pleasant and not overdone, and meld with the fruity barrel character and heartily malty base barleywine. There’s lots of sticky caramel, molasses, and toffee, with a wonderful dried fruit leather like note.

This is medium bodied, creamy, and not boozy at all.

In a lot of breweries’ hands, this would have been a big mess. This fortunately worked out well.

Pours hazy, dark copper in color with one quarter inch head. Taste is big pineapple and layers and layers of caramel with some burnt sugar. Heavy body, low carbonation, sweet. English barleywine in style, sweet but not cloying, expertly produced. I love pineapple. Unsure of how you could improve on this....great job Tree House. This is the type of dessert I enjoy.

Poured aggressive into a 13 oz Teku glass not sure when it was bottled. Pours a very attractive mahogany with little to no head, that leaves a streak or 2 of lace after each sip. 4

Aroma is dark fruit dates, fig, plum, black cherry, vanilla bean, cherrie, molasses, and brown sugar. 4.25

Tastes follows fig, plum, black cherry, cherrie, molasses, vanilla, and brown sugar. 4.25

Mouthfeel is above average, very soft carbonation, maybe a tad dry, and not sure about the ABV but it drinks around 13% or even higher. 4.25

Overall this is a sipper and a very complex beer. Still trying to wrap my head around it. I would recommend, but this monster is not for everyone. 4.25

Muddy brown at a glance, though actually clear red under light, with a short tan head dispersing to a nice quarter pipe all around the ridge.

In light of this face shredding weather, barleywine season is in full effect for me, but this sucker is so far on the other end of the spectrum after the Rye BA Gratitude I just had it's absurd.

Caramelized pineapple just explodes on the nose, like straight up frosted rum cake. However, taste is even sweeter, leading with vanilla in a way that's too damn near one of those Horus abominations.

The barleywine base is almost imperceptible, and what's worse, the madeira and sherry barrels have totally gone to waste. What an absolute travesty.

The stringy, brightly vibrant pineapple continues to try to exude its positive energy, but it can't save this mess...not that I'd call on it to in the first place.

Sampling a cellar temp 12 oz bottle poured into my snifter. The beer was picked up at the brewery in October and has been on a shelf in my cellar since then.
The beer pours a dark mahogany color to almost cola brown with very little light passing through. Not quite stout color on this brew. the head is minimal with a thing beige colored dense head of maybe .3 cm. Very minimal and fades quickly to the thinnest of edging.
Aroma is some dark malts with brown sugar and caramel mixing with faint wisps of vanilla and a good dose of pineapple. I also get a bit of a cherry coridal note on the nose. Not boozy or peppery on the nose. Also no hop character.
First sip reveals a medium body with very sticky texture that coats my palate and my lips with each sip. Very gentle and spacious carbonation.
Flavor is rich and fairly sweet. I get dark fruit raisins and again brown sugar and vanilla, adding in pineapple notes and again the cherry cordial lingers after each sip. There are hints of caramel that pop up too. No hops and not boozy. I dont know what the ABV is on this one, but it doesnt show through anywhere.
This is definitely a sweeter beer and if you dont like pineapple, you wont like this one. Im glad its in a 12 oz format otherwise I may not be able to finish the beer TBH. Glad I tried it, not sure Id buy it again though. Very candy sweet

Tree of Bliss handled its additions of orange peel, coffee, and vanilla with subtlety, letting the barrels and barleywine shine. Here, the pineapple is very assertive, it is the primary focal point of all aspects in this one. Up front it is decadent desert, brown sugar caramelized on grilled pineapple and served with vanilla ice cream. Towards the finish it transforms into a tropical cocktail. The pineapple turns juicy while the wine barrels assert themselves. Tree House does barleywine extraordinarily well, this isn't my favorite but it does work well.
