Ace in the Hole is our Pre-Prohibition-style Porter! Brewed with six-row barley, flaked corn, black malt, our American Lager yeast, and a hint of molasses, its flavor profile instantly transports you back to a historic time in our American past.
Pouring a jet-black color in the glass it carries notes of coffee, chocolate and freshly baked bread with a gentle bitterness impacted by classic Willamette hops.
This time capsule is remarkably enjoyable, encapsulating a time long gone by and never to return. Enjoy this magnificent taste of history!

Had on tap at Sandwich. Pours clear, dark brown in color with one inch head. Taste is tobacco and sorghum with chocolate and peat. Light body moderate low carbonation, slightly bitter. Almost tastes like a non alcoholic stout. Interesting, not bad but nothing I see myself getting a four pack of.

Recently got a case of Treehouse Stouts and Porters, and I've got to say, this one stood out to me. Unlike some of their imperials and milk stouts (which are fine for splitting or "one is enough", this one I found to be quite enjoyable and very sessionable. Sad that I only have one. Slightly smokey with hints of char (and in a good way), its robust, but light, and just has a very interesting character to it. Coffee is there as well.

My first “Pre-Prohibition “ Porter. Great deep black color. There’s a robust smoky-ness aroma with dark roasted coffee. Tannic bitterness gives way to some dark fruit and raisin notes. Somewhat thin mouthfeel with moderate creamy head. Not as good as “Catharsis “ but quite unique!

Canned Winter 2022. “Share with those you love” stamped on the bottom of the can
Moving right along with the beers I picked up at Tree House Deerfield the other day, we have another classic style. Not just Porter, Pre-Prohibition Porter. I’ve had some Pre-Pro Pilsners before, but never Porter. Let’s see what it’s all about
Pours a very dark brown with 3 fingers of of rocky light tan head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves decent lacing
The nose is somewhat reminiscent of a Baltic Porter, which I really dig. I’m picking up on aromas of cocoa powder, molasses, dark bread, nutty malt, raisin, brown sugar, leather, light herbal hops, and light roast coffee
It loses quite a bit of nuance in taste but I’m still into it. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting black cherry, milk chocolate, dark toast, vanilla, light roast coffee, herbal hops, and light toffee. The swallow brings notes of cocoa powder, dark toast, raisin, vanilla, herbal hops, medium roast coffee, and light molasses
A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a crisp and roasty beer. Finishes bone dry with a balanced bitterness
This is a really good one. I like how it rides the line between American and Baltic Porter. I guess that’s what they tasted like before Prohibition
