Old World Double Bourbon is a traditional Ale brewed with a complex array of malts and fermented with a classic Scotch Ale yeast, resulting in a delightfully smoky tribute to the eclectic world of Highland Whiskeys. This beer was placed into Bourbon barrels for six months and, after this initial rest, transferred a second time into a variety of fresh Bourbon vessels.

The extended aging and double barrel treatment results in amplified characteristics of some of our favorite Bourbon offerings. The base beer's mellow smokiness wafts from the glass accompanied by pronounced char and sweet vanilla notes. Beneath this first impression, a figgy syrup awaits the palate, reminiscent of British puddings and Turkish delights. This special libation is a welcome addition to our barrel program, blending historical brewing with American innovation. Enjoy!

Tasted right after the "bourbon scotch" version, which I'll refer to as BS. Pours a dark chestnut with small and dissipating head, just like BS. Nose isn't anything like as smoky as BS, and is predominantly malt, toffee and dark fruit. Taste follows suit - Christmas Pudding in a glass. Rather too sweet for my taste without the peaty smokiness that offsets it in BS, but still a lovely slow-sipper.

This one pours a nice dark golden brown color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.

This smells warmly smokey, with some sweet-ish peat character, caramel, chocolate, and toffee.

Tree House has really nailed this one in my eyes. It’s peaty and smokey in a completely manageable way, with none of the off flavors associated often with this style. There’s a nice barrel character that drizzles some caramel and vanilla earthy tones on top of this. There’s some breadiness and toffee as well, with just a hint of chocolate.

This is medium bodied, slightly boozy warming, with a great drinkability.

I really enjoyed this, and continue to be extremely impressed with Tree House’s current range.

Pours a clear dark amber color, minimal head. Aroma is loaded with toffee and brown sugar. Fairly sweet, I get light toffee, brown sugar, smoky finish. Pretty yeasty. Fairly thin for the style. Overall , just ok, and way overpriced.
