Satin is crafted with a proprietary yeast developed in the Winter of 2023. Through each successive fermentation, we continue to adapt, hone our process, and push the boundaries of hoppy beer. Our hop regimen begins with a hand-selected blend of fruit-forward hops, forming a familiar foundation on top of which our brewers blended some of our favorite new varieties. Citra, Galaxy, Motueka, and Mandarina Bavaria blend seamlessly into a bright display of tropical delights. Pouring a stunning opaque yellow color into your glass, it purveys vibrant and expressive notes of mixed tropical fruit, sweet lime, citrus gummies, and overripe pineapple.

I avoided the dataset series where treehouse was experimenting with different yeasts - I wanted to wait until Nate decided which one (or which combo) they'd brew with going forward. Satin is the first beer I've tried using the new strain, mostly because it uses hops I'm mostly familiar with.
It pours like a typical treehouse DIPA - completely opaque with a head that dissipates slowly, leaving a thin film of fine bubbles on the surface. There's a dankness on the nose that sets it apart from other treehouse beers, with an assortment of fruit beneath. The taste follows the nose but there's a distinct bitterness that comes to the foreground somewhat earlier than usual. That mid-palate bitterness along with the dankness is what saves it from being just another NEIPA fruit salad, but it still feels muddled to me. The body is thick enough to coat the tongue, which makes your mouth water after the swallow and want to come back for another sip.
Overall it's interesting, but a more run-of-the-mill NEIPA than I'm used to from treehouse.

Had on tap at Sandwich. Pours milky gold in color, hazy with one inch head. Taste is smoothed over mango gummies and lemon juice. Medium heavy body, moderate low carbonation, slightly bitter. This is two beers with the new yeast strain and cannot say I am impressed. A bit too smoothed over has some hop bite, but I hope Tree House doesn't do the classics with this strain.
