Brewed for the first time in the spring of 2022, our Blonde Barleywine was nestled in the quietest corner of our barrel warehouse and put into a deep slumber for an indeterminate amount of time. Walking amongst these towering stacks of barrels, surrounded by the intoxicating aromas of earthy oak, char, and spice, the space that housed these precious wooden vessels of golden elixir was thus deemed the Gilded Grove. We now present to you several distinct expressions of this wonderful treat.

Gilded Grove Ceramic Toast Barrel utilized several imported French oak barrels that underwent distinct toasting techniques before seeing liquid. Layered upon the base beer are flavors and aromas of sugared apples, baking spice, and tannic wood. Finally, an absence of char in the toasting process creates unparalleled flavors of caramel and warming oak that aptly show what these barrels can do. Enjoy!

Pours a reddish brown, mahogany almost just a touch lighter. No real head just a ring of bubbles.

Aroma is sweet caramel malts, green apple, cotton candy grape, light spice, sugar coated figs. Could be a caramel apple.

Taste follows loads of caramel malts light fruits, green apples, grapes, light spice, figs, oak notes. Big sweet malty treat, but lighter then a English BW more triple like with caramel?

Mouthfeel is big medium but not as full as you would think, smooth carbonation.

Overall different but good.

Pours a deep ruby/copper with amber hues. Non-existent head, just a white ring of bubbles. Nose is sweet... apples, white grape, spice (probably cinnamon or nutmeg), reminds me a lot of the '20 BCBS Caramella Wheatwine. Taste echos much of the nose with apples and cinnamon being the leads, caramel, and oak rounding things out. Mouthfeel is moderately carbonated, somewhat buttery feel. Finish, while sweet, does lend itself to some marginal tartness and the faint spice.

Tasting notes of caramel, brown sugar, honeycomb, pear, and apple. It doesn't quite drink like any other barleywine (save the similarities with the other Gilded Grove offerings from Tree House, or perhaps select offerings from Barreled Souls). Quite unique and pleasurable.

Pours murky, copper in color with minimal head. Taste is deep caramel, vanilla, fine whiskey, toasted malt and faint dry wood. Heavy body, low carbonation, sweet but not cloying. This is such a great barleywine...so nuanced, clean but a kiss of barrel. I know Tree House needs to produce the banana and fluff oak Aged stouts that sell and I will admittedly buy, but it is beers like this that show how skilled a brewer Nate is. Infinitely better the Madeira version. Subtle but oh so tasty. This is a beer I would expect from Firestone Walker. Tastes like beer. A true sipper from Tree House. So glad Sandwich talked me into this over tipa of the week.
