Dark tan head which starts around 3 fingers thick, but it doesn't last, eventually becoming only rim bubbles. Oddly, there's nearly no lace--only a couple of random spots remain.

Chocolate nibs and coffee are the initial smells I get. I'm getting roasted almonds and cream.

The flavor is like sweetened Baker's Chocolate--a contradiction of terms but an apt description. Plenty of alcohol warmth. Decent above average body with a lower level of carbonation. No coffee. I get some of the aforementioned almond on the tongue. The finish is semisweet chocolate and a bit boozy.

Pours mahogany brown and settles black in the glass with a foamy dark tan head that lingers a bit and provides moderate lacing.

The nose has lots of roasty malt, a nice bit of maple syrup and vanilla, and a smidge of cinnamon.

The roasty malt and maple are forward on the taste and very nice, and the vanilla fits well with those flavors, with the cinnamon a participant in the background only.

The mouthfeel is medium, I just wish it was a bit creamier, which I associate with the milk stout style. Still, this is worthy of a try.

Pours a deep dark brown color with a finger of tan head. The nose has notes of milk chocolate and molasses. The flavor profile doesn't have much roast, but instead, it is dominated by the essence of cinnamon walnut toast with a side of maple syrup. The mouthfeel is creamy and full.

Pours opaque, jet black in color with one half inch head. Taste is big cinnamon with vanilla, maple syrup and roasted malt. Medium body, low carbonation sweet. An above average Tree stout. Really like the cinnamon, good not great.

Nose is like most TH milk stouts, that is to say, something there, but hard to identify. No “strong aromas of maple, cinnamon, coffee, and whipped cream.” The palate is closer to that list, with maple for sure. A pleasant bitterness stands in for coffee and leads to a long finish. I can just imagine French toast and coffee, though there is a hint of sour that avoids unctuousness, but also detracts from the “comfort and familiarity” that is advertised.

In balance, a nice milk stout, but not one of my favorites, which are: Hold on to Sunshine and Moment of Clarity, of the currently available, under $7/pt. selection.
