The magic of terroir—the environmental conditions, especially soil and climate, in which hops are grown and give a hop their unique flavor and aroma—continues to enthrall us at Tree House.
To illustrate the difference between region and growing conditions, we have begun the Many Ways series, which seeks to brew single-hop beers with hops sourced from specific growing regions and farms.
Part One contains Citra grown exclusively by our friends at Carpenter Ranches in the Yakima Valley of Washington. It exhibits the quintessential character of Citra with notes of bright citrus, lychee, and stone fruit with a gentle bitterness on the finish. This beer is simply wonderful in concert with Tree House's unique house character.
We hope you enjoy it and compare it to other entries forthcoming in the series.

Hazy; pale yellow. Good head production, very nice lacing, and decent retention.
Aroma is very bright and citrus-forward, mildly dank, with notes of resin, grapefruit, lemon, and orange, accompanied by more mild notes of mango and papaya.
Flavor delivers a fairly strong dose of citrus, with a slightly higher complement of tropical fruit notes. Mildly dank (YMMV, especially depending on the freshness of the hops; this beer was canned three weeks ago). Notes of mandarin orange, lychee, mango, grapefruit, peach, lemon zest, and a touch of vanilla. Lightly and brightly herbal, especially on the back third. Balanced and noticeable bitterness. Clocking in at imperial strength, this drinks a bit more like a single IPA in terms of balance and moderately low sweetness. Lovely bitter finish.
