Had on tap. Pours clear, dark brown in color with one quarter inch head. Taste is baker's and milk chocolate with cayenne. Medium body, moderate carbonation, roasty and bitter. Ok, different, nothing I need a four pack of. Don't get mole.

Canned Spring 2024

It’s been a minute since I’ve done a Tree House haul. I was heading to Albany the other day so I made the slight detour to Tree House in Deerfield to grab a case. This one sounds fun, like a TH take on Xocoveza. Let’s crack it open and see what it has to offer

Pours a very dark brown with 2 fingers of frothy light tan head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves decent lacing

The nose is rather gentle but it’s nicely nuanced. I’m picking up on aromas of cacao nib, dried chipotle, raisin, earthy cinnamon, vanilla bean, and molasses

It’s even lighter in taste but still solid. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting milk chocolate, earthy cinnamon, vanilla bean, brown sugar, caramel, light chili powder, and walnut. The swallow brings notes of milk chocolate, vanilla bean, dried chipotle, raisin, earthy cinnamon, brown sugar, and light molasses

A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a smooth beer with a bite

It’s not anything amazing but damn good for what it is

Pours a dark cola brown and settles black in the glass with mahogany brown hues on the edges and a creamy tan head that lingers a bit. Pretty milk stout.

The nose features a roasty note akin to coffee, with some chocolate and a bit of cinnamon and vanilla. I am searching for the ancho chiles like Columbo on a case, but they’re nowhere to be found.

The taste has that roasty note and some cinnamon, but I get lots of chocolate and vanilla, which works really well, and maybe a bit of residual heat from the chiles at the back of the palate, but not enough for this old beer nerd.

The mouthfeel is medium, but almost watery, which I didn’t expect. This is pretty tasty and I’m glad I tried it, but it could’ve been much more, IMHO.

Poured from a 16-oz can simply stamped “SPRING 2024”. It was purchased cold at the Charlton location yesterday and kept cold. Poured to a snifter at 52 degrees F.
The pour stream is almost opaque black, in the glass it is a complete black out. The tan head is half the glass despite a careful pour. Had to wait a few minutes to get the complete can in the glass. The head fades but still covers the entire surface as a shadow of its former self. Lacing is minimal at the most.
The aroma is strongly reminiscent of hot chocolate (but cold) with a hint of vanilla.
The taste is different from the smell. The chocolate is still there but it is fighting with a ripe fruit sensation. Vanilla is there but the ancho chile on the label is hard to detect. There is some mild heat but it's either the cinnamon or the chile, can't tell. Sweetness definitely trumps spice in this beer. If this Mole was used to cook the protein on my dinner plate I would send it back.
The body is medium. There is some chalkiness on the finish, giving the impression that cocoa powder is still in its original form, but I don't really believe that. Maybe it's the cinnamon challenge.
Not what I wanted, but I have come to expect TH stouts are always sweeter than I want them to be.

Poured out of a 16 oz Can, dated Spring 2024 into a Nonic Pint. Black as night with a firm head.

Smell is outrageous. Hot chocolate with ancho chile peppers.

Nice smooth and thick mouth feel, with waaay more sweetness than I was expecting. That sweetness is met with a nice amount of heat on the back end. Those two flavors combine for an excellent stout.

Probably more apt for a winter brew than early spring, but man is it good. Worth the try.
