Originally released in May 2014, Very Green was ahead of its time and anchored an explosively creative period at Tree House. Now, in 2024, we have brewed hundreds of batches of this beer, traveled the world to learn the subtle nuances of Galaxy, and, through constant iteration and refinement, dedicated our working lives to making it a beer we love to drink. It would be impossible to overstate its importance to Tree House. For this celebratory batch, we’ve included Galaxy, sourced exclusively from Tasmania, and a hint of Citra from Oregon. This Citra is particularly juicy and serves to amplify the core hop blend of Very Green further. Finally, a very small splash of Motueka rounds out the sweet lemon-lime note that makes this Very Green.

Can dated 6/4/24 from @wunderllama
Pours a juicy-looking orange with two fingers of foamy head. Smells citrusy, notes of orange, grapefruit, lime, citra hops, and somewhat grassy. Taste is grapefruit-forward, has some characteristics I would associate with west-coast style, predominately a resiny hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is moderately carbonated, creamy. Finish has lingering hop bitterness and grapefruit. Lovely.

This one was courtesy of @Beer_Economicus, muled all the way to Australia from New England, and drunk a week after getting my hands on it and within a month of its canning date. Now that's service!
L: Super thick, light custard orange in the glass with a voluptuous, moussy cream-coloured head. If I look really closely at the glass, I can see a sheet of tiny bubbles flowing up the glass. I can't remember ever seeing a thicker-looking beer!
S: The nose has apricot, smooth vanilla, some coconut, and pawpaw. This is an absolute delight to smell.
T: Is this fruit juice or beer? The taste is an ultra-smooth mix of tropical apricot, lime, pawpaw and guava. If I put my mind to it, I could pick out most of the tropical fruits in the pantheon, such is the tropical deliciousness of this beer. There is no hint of the 8.3% ABV, making this a very dangerous beer. I'm only halfway through the one-pint can and already want another one! I can't remember giving a beer a rating of 5 for taste, and this one is a no-brainer for a 5. Delicious!
M: This is super smooth in the mouth, like velvet made liquid. Carbonation is low, but what is there perfectly fits with the rest of the package.
O: I have drunk a lot of beer in my time and written reviews of over 600 of them. This is way up there with the very best of them. The fact that this can was muled from New England, across the continental United States, over the Pacific Ocean only to land in my lap in this condition within a month of canning makes me wonder how good it would be fresh at the source!
Cheers!

Poured 15 days after canning, it looks like I remember Very Green: milky amber with a thick off-white head. Smell is of pineapple and maybe a hint of lemon, along with some hop dankness. Feel is thick and creamy while the taste amplifies the smell with a good amount of grapefruit bitterness. Regular VG is probably my least favorite of the Green family - I prefer the Ggg variants, and generally prefer IPAs to DIPAs - but this variant moves it up a place or two.

As noted before, Apricots galore . Can dated 9/3/24 so i am tasting this today. The grapefruit pith and bitterness allows this to be very thick but not overly sweet. Damn, after an initial taste of fruit, it transitions to intense bitterness which I love after the “sweet tropical “ fruit. Beautiful Beer !

Poured for all the world looking like puréed apricot with an ivory colored head. Rings of lacing belie the notion it's an apricot smoothie.
The taste might have some apricot, but it definitely has grapefruit and pineapple with a little bit of lemon.
The feel is soft and, well, thicc. Almost chewy but not. I’d know more but I think I might have drank it too quickly, kept sipping to identify what I was tasting. So quaffable quality is high.
OA, good beer, very glad I got to try it.

Pint can poured into a Tree House IPA snifter glass.
Fuzzy orange juice colored brew topped with slightly off-white foam. The lacing lasts and sticks.
Great aroma. Bright, fresh, and sweetened lemon-lime hop notes, tropical fruits and melons.
The aroma turns into flavor. It’s fruity, pineapple and melon along with the lemon and lime. The flavors load the barley base.
Chewy body, medium plus. Very smooth. The hop flavors linger on the palate after the liquid drops down.
Hazy, juicy neipas are ok, this one is elevated.

Unfortunately, I drank this beer in a hotel room and had to pour it into a suboptimal cup, but none the less here we go.
Gifted as an extra in a trade. Canned 06/04/24, consumed 07/10/24
A&S: burnt orange-colored beer. Maybe the name is making me believe it, but I think this beer has a slight green hue. Hybrid foamy-fizzy off-white head with decent retention. The aroma contains an abundance of candied and tropical fruits.
T&M: The hop profile is similar to the original. Tropical mangos and pineapples are dominant, but there is also a presence of spicy hops to add another dimension. Also getting some melon. The mouthfeel is superb. Velvet smooth while having enough carbonation kick.
Overall: Great beer. I wish I had planned better and had saved a very green to do a side-by-side.

L - pungent, hazy viscosity. Glows faintly green with a sticky, foamy, finger of head that desperately clings to the glass. Just a nice looking beer.
S - soft vanilla accents juicy pineapple creamsicle. Simply dripping with hop essence.
T - really gotta chew through these dry hops. Expecting acridity, I'm instead met with delicate flavor transitions between mango, peach, pineapple, and jackfruit. Tangerine smoothies with a splash of signature TH bubblegum. Finishes as smooth as it starts, it tells a full story.
F - as previously alluded to, mouthfeel is indeed thiqq and filling. Like Egyptian cotton sheets, it feels like I'm adrift on a snowdrift made of clouds.
O - I don't think this 10th anniversary edition particularly raises any bars in the Green family, but it sure as hell refines one. Feels like VG with the kinks worked out, while still exuding intensity and flavor. A fitting way to celebrate my own 10th work anniversary. To reflect on the moments that define my career, the times that made me smile, and the bittersweet memories as I struggle with a difficult decision going forward. Looking forward to where I'll be in another ten.
