On tap at Tree House Brewing Company in Saratoga, NY.

This one pours a clear golden orange color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells somewhat lemony, with biscuity malt, freshly mowed grass, and grapefruit.

I don’t exactly know what to expect with a New Zealand style lager, and I’m glad it’s not just a lager with super tropical Southern Hemisphere hops masquerading as a lager but really tasting like an IPA. It’s still crisp, clean, floral, and smooth, with a touch of citrus and berry.

This is lighter bodied, crisp, clean, and super drinkable.

This definitely goes down extremely easily, but is also complex and interesting at the same.

16oz can poured into a snifter.

A: brassy golden color with great clarity. Creamy, fine-bubbled white head rises to two fingers and retains pretty well. Rings of lacing form on the glass as the liquid level diminishes.

S: Smells like a brew day. Dank hops with a leafy dimension, grass clippings, very earthy with some herbal/spicy undertones. Big hit of lime leaf. Maybe even a bit of basil. Some pithy citrus notes of lemon and white grapefruit. White pepper. Some more playful melon aromas of honeydew and watermelon rind, too. Malt bill is unique. Smells like some doughy and grainy pils malt at play.

T: Hop flavors really hit up front, with a lot of that dank earthiness at first. Leafy, grass clippings, oily and herbal. Lots of lime. Big burst of kiwi and honeydew melon slices through all the earthiness. Some pithy lemon. White pepper. Moderate bitterness. Faint alcohol and tropical esters. Clean cracker and grain with an even toastiness is sharper and more well-focused than I got on the nose. Finishes quick and dry with some lingering spicy hop oil.

M: Light bodied with a slight creaminess. Fluffy texture. Deeply crisp with a carbonic blast that has a very scrubbing seltzery bite. Mild hop astringency.

O: The hopping is kinda busy and muddled. A bit overdone, I think. Also a bit too carbonated. This recipe needs some tweaking, but it could be a pretty solid little brew with that nice quenching drinkability if they hit it right. As it stands now, its just ok and not one I'd buy again.
