The magic of terroir—the environmental conditions, especially soil and climate, in which hops are grown and give a hop their unique flavor and aroma—continues to enthrall us at Tree House.
To illustrate the difference between region and growing conditions, we have begun the Many Ways series, which seeks to brew single-hop beers with hops sourced from specific growing regions and farms.
This rendition contains Nelson Sauvin, grown exclusively by our friends at Garston Hops in the Queenstown region of New Zealand's South Island. Juicy, juicy, juicy. We discovered Garston's wonderful farm completely by chance while driving to Milford Sound. It was a beautiful and delightful happenstance, and our relationship has only grown since.
We hope you enjoy this unique expression of our favorite hop!

Cloudy yellow-orange with a half finger of dense, off-white head. Decent retention and thick rings of lacing. OJ, vanilla and white wine in the nose. Creamy Orange Julius up front in the taste with sharply bitter, grassy finish. Full feeling with zippy carbonation. A better than average use of Nelson.

Moderate head that settles to surface film. Decent lacing in the form of longer streaks and infrequent but larger spots. The liquid is cloudy with a dirty gold color.
Mild aroma of wet leaves and strawberries (!). Inriguing and complex smell which is also partially dank and prickly.
Leans dry with a subtle flavor of freezed dried fruit (not necessarily strawberries). This is very brief and becomes a neutral malt taste until the swallow which becomes straight up bitter. There's a mild alcohol bite as well. The aftertaste is a very long bitter flavor, like sucking a hop pellet.

Purchased 3-days ago cold and kept cold until served. Poured to a pretentious tulip-like glass from a 16oz can stamped PKGD 08/05/25. $20.00 per 4-pack.
The body is an opaque bright orange, SRM 4. With a simple pour I got a ¾”/18mm head white head of micro-bubbles. This faded to a single layer within 3-4 minutes. Lacing is pretty with ¼”/6mm rings of foam.
The aroma is quite Nelson, grapes, citrus and spice, mostly grapes.
The taste is similar but also brings stone fruit. Very nice.
The mouthfeel is medium plus. Carbonation is also medium plus.
A good beer. Wish I could try it heads up with the other varieties in this theme.

This one pours a nicely hazy orange color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
There’s the classically intense white wine aromas on the nose here, with a lightly spicy bitterness, marijuana, and mango.
I don’t have really anything to compare this one to other Nelson Many Ways beers in this series, but in a vacuum, this beer is excellent. There’s a light and clean bitterness, spicy and herbal, marijuana-ish, with lots of Sauvignon Blanc type white wine flavors, tannic and juicy, with mango, passionfruit, and grapefruit.
This is medium bodied, slightly creamy, with a nice drinkability.
I like the idea of this series and hope I can maybe try some of the other ones at some point.

Picked up a four pack of cans at Tree House in Sandwich, Massachusetts for about twenty dollars. My three hundred and fifty fifth brew from these guys. Very good, very expensive.
