The magic of terroir—the environmental conditions, especially soil, and climate, in which hops are grown and give a hop their unique flavor and aroma—continues to enthrall us at Tree House. To illustrate the difference between region and growing conditions, we have begun the Many Ways series, which seeks to brew single-hop beers with hops sourced from specific growing regions and farms. This rendition contains Nelson Sauvin grown on Nelson Lakes Farm, the latest endeavor of our friends Freestyle Hops. Glaciers once carved through this wild landscape leaving behind deep craters of freshwater and fertile grounds. On the edge of the Nelson Lakes National Park, situated between the teeth of these green mountains, a new exploration of New Zealand’s terroir has begun. This beer explodes with unique notes of sweet lychee, bright tropical citrus and lip-smacking passionfruit! Enjoy!

Sweet tropical hoppy, slightly malty, white wine grape, and an orange-grapefruit citrus nose on this one! Nice Nelson hop aromatics! Taste follows with a murky-soft, Nelson hoppy, and a grapefruit citrus bitter swallow. This is well-done and a really nice use of my favorite hop! It just needed a touch more sweetness upfront to balance the hoppy bitterness on the backend as it warmed. Good!
