We have a great affinity to the Moutere Valley on New Zealand’s South Island. Cool glassy lakes dot the region, buttressing wetlands and lush forests. All of these varied ecosystems dip and crest over an endless rolling countryside. If we squint our eyes a little, it becomes a familiar vantage akin to our hilly Massachusetts. Peppered among this landscape are swaths of farmland, historic and new, some of the world's great undiscovered vineyards, and, of course, hop yards galore. This brings us to our friends, Eggers Hops. Eggers Special is a Double IPA utilizing one of the most stunning lots of Riwaka we’ve had the privilege of brewing with. This late-harvested crop explodes with notes of bright pineapple, zippy candied lime peel, and sweet passionfruit cake. Supporting this tropical delight is a dash of Nelson hops, bringing out aromas of gooseberry and a subtle hoppy dankness. This beer exemplifies New Zealand's rare terroir and belongs in any hop-lover's fridge in droves!

Yeah not good unpleasant aftertaste reminded me of working at a gas station when I’d add oil to someone that was down a quart. Drain pour for me unfortunately.

On tap in Tewksbury.
Presents cloudy gold with a moderate head and retention.
Aromatics are fairly pungent, filled with unripe citrus and a bit earthy.
Medium bodied with a soft mouthfeel.
A bit dank and green up front on the palate with minimal malt or bitterness. Unripe peach, manfo, hint of honeydew.
Finishes fairly dry for a THIPA.

Canned 1/7/2025. Wonderfully dank nose, lots of tropical fruit, smooth bitter finish. Terrific.

Sweet tropical hoppy, slightly malty, a hint of grapefruit, and a candied lemon-lime citrus-dank nose on this one! Taste follows with a malty-sweet and malt dominant, orange-grapefruit citrus bitter finish. This is pretty good, but the malt use here is a little heavy handed. Also, there is an aftertaste that is a touch off-putting on the backend.
