Whose moon is this? Sneaking into my bedroom, carefully making the bed with its light, reading the spines of my books, pressing its little paws across my half-closed eyes. Recognizing herself against the snow outside my window, where steam curls out the buck’s soft nose from the engine of its heart. In her shadow against the trees, old houses slump their shoulders as chimneys puff their pipes. She has so many names without ever saying a word, cradling all that the day has tried to steal. Hold on to Moonlight is a rich and delicious stout intended to be savored in the quiet half of our days. A nod to our award-winning distillery, we included a thoughtful addition of flaked maize. This highly fermentable grain adds a novel flair of dryness to an otherwise decadent Pastry stout. Brewed with Pale and Chocolate malts, Lactose, Coffee, Cocoa, and Peanuts it exhibits notes of rich milk chocolate, dark brown sugar, creamy espresso, and chocolate-covered peanut butter cups. We hope you enjoy this with the night owls in your life.

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells nutty and chocolatey, with creamy coffee, and some vanilla.
This has a nice balance to it despite the amount of adjuncts added – there’s a lot of roast and the coffee provides some charred. There’s milk chocolate, brown sugar, and a very pleasant and not too sweet nuttiness. It’s not necessarily screaming Reese’s peanut butter cups, it’s more just giving the vibe of actual roasted peanuts.
This is medium bodied, creamy, and not super boozy.
This isn’t quite as bodacious as some of Tree House’s more ridiculous coffee beers, but it was definitely enjoyable.

Pours pitch black with two fingers of creamy, foamy head. Plenty of lacing. Aroma is heavy peanuts, toffee, caramel, hints of marshmallow. Taste is sweet... lactose, peanut, chocolate, and coffee. Low-to-moderate carbonation, creamy, silky mouthfeel. Finish is milk chocolate, coffee bitterness, and peanuts. If you're a fan of PB or nutty stouts, this would likely scratch that itch.

Poured from 16oz can into pint glass in April 2025, that I purchased at their brewery in Tewsbury, MA. There is a date of Winter 2025 on the bottom of the can, and I drank this about 1 month after I purchased it.
Appearance: Very dark black with 1-finger head. The head was dark brown, and disappeared after a minute. It left only a little lacing on the glass, and no head remained after a minute.
Smell: Strong mix of aromas filled the room as soon as the can was opened. Roasted coffee, caramel, and chocolate aromas. Not much hop style citrus or pine aromas.
Taste: There is taste of coffee, chocolate, and licorice. Also, some vanilla, peanut butter, and roasted malt flavors. They are more balanced than I expected from the aroma. Flavors are very bold. There is a medium alcohol presence that matches 7.6% advertised. A sweet chocolate, and vanilla aftertaste with edge of coffee, that is really enjoyable.
Mouth-feel: Very thick, but with an extremely smooth and creamy body.
This is a very good Milk Stout, and one of the best I have ever drank. It has a variety of flavors that adds a nice complexity to the beer. The balance of flavors is outstanding. The flavors of coffee and roasted malt nicely balance the bitter coffee with the sweet chocolate and caramel flavors. This reminds me of the Tree House 'Hold On To Sunshine' stout, which is also very good. This is very smooth and enjoyable to drink. I have enjoyed all the beers I've bought at Tree House, and I would buy this again.

L - thick and black. BBB, one might call it. I'll spare you the details on the head.
S - roasty coffee grounds and dark chocolate that penetrates deep. Deeper. Yes, to the bone. Btw. Here's your reminder that there's a spooky skeleton inside you right now. A hint of marzipan adds a layer of mallow to mellow the marrow.
T - rich, boisterous flavor. Raw nuts. Warmth and tingles. An air of crispiness that hollows out the flavor, making room for a second, immediate sip.
F - ya'll were waiting for this one, huh? Thin enough to be refreshing, but finishes strong and froths between the lips as every last drop is savored to be remembered. Hey, stop playing with your food.
O - bitter, pungent, tangy, and potent. I'm a real sucker for the dark shit.

Poured from a 16 oz. can into a New Belgium Globe Glass
Thanks to WunderLlama for this one!
The beer pours black with no visible highlights when held up to light, and 3 fingers of off dark tan head that recedes slowly settling down to a thick cap. A small amount of lacing remains on the glass.
The aroma is all peanut butter and chocolate. Such an inviting aroma, sweet milk chocolate and peanut butter, and just a hint of coffee.
The flavor matches the nose quite closely, but bigger! lots of sweet milk chocolate and peanut butter, like a Reece's Peanut butter cup. Full bodied and silky, low/moderate carbonation and finishes slick on the tongue.
Overall this is a very nice milk stout. Phenomenal aroma with a flavor to match. If this was available locally I would keep it on regular rotation!

Pours opaque, dark brown in color with one inch head. Taste is big peanut butter, dark roast coffee and dark chocolate. Bitter, medium heavy body, medium low carbonation. HOTS with dark chocolate..Dark chocolate is healthier. I prefer eating it for that reason....drinking, I prefer the original milk chocolate.

As you might expect, much like Hold On To Sunshine. Strong peanut nose, which follows through on the palate. Some bitterness from dark roast and hops (and coffee and chocolate?) holds it together for a lovely milk stout package. One of my faves. In spite of the extra cost, I hope TH continues to brew it.
