Komorebi: Yamadori is a rumination on the traditional art of bonsai. This dry-hopped Japanese Lager pours a brilliant pale yellow color into the glass with notes of bready malts, straw, and white rice. A thoughtful addition of Lemondrop hops then lends aromas of floral green tea, citrus peel, and lemon candies. Our practices intersect in that when done correctly, nature is allowed to take its course within a set of parameters, our guidance only apparent in the fleeting conditions we built around the art.

Picked up at the Rochester pop up shop in October pours golden yellow with a fluff head that reduced to lots of laces on the glass. Aroma is bread, lemon straw, green tea. Last follows with orange peel, usual rice lager points. This is very delish and it’s always fun to try a brewery’s take on the rice lager. Very drinkable and refreshing.

Had on tap at Sandwich. Pours clear, straw in color with one inch head. Taste is bread and white wine...light body,, moderate carbonation, slightly bitter. Makes for an easy to drink Japanese lager. Interesting. Will get again.

Picked up a single can as part of a mixed twelve pack of cans at Tree House Brewery in Sandwich, Massachusetts for about forty eight dollars. Pretty bland.

On tap at Tree House Brewing in Saratoga, NY.
This one pours a fairly clear golden yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells slightly bready and biscuity, with jasmine, lemongrass, green tea, grapefruit, and orange peel.
This is definitely hoppier than the average Japanese rice lager, but it works well for me, personally. There’s a very pleasant grassy, herbal, and tea-like hop character here, with some decent toasted rice notes.
This is very light bodied, clean, crisp, and super drinkable.
There’s a lot going on here for a style that’s usually pretty basic.
