Long Shadows is a Hoppy Festbier pouring a golden color with tight carbonation from proper conditioning. Compared to its Oktoberfest brethren, a more tempered malt bill lends notes of light toffee, rustic crackers, and honey-glazed bread crust.A charge of Hallertau and Spalter Select hops adds notes of floral apple orchard and robust noble spice.

Had on tap at Sandwich. Pours milky, tan in colorwith one quarter inch head. Taste is warm bread, whole wheat, smoke, and floral hops. Bitter, moderate carbonation, light bodied. Mix between a marzen and rauchbier. Good, not great.

16oz can poured into a thin chalice.
A: Sunny golden with early chill haze. Things settle and clarify with time, but it remains just a bit hazy over clear. Bone-white and large bubbled head forms at two fingers and retains very well. Plenty of clumpy and sticky lacing.
S: Layered malt backbone of toasty grain, cracker, and dough with a dab of honey thrown in for good measure. Hops initially show a distinct flash of apple blossom before going more green and pithy. Herbal and spicy, too. Perhaps some nutty yeast in the background, but clean overall.
T: Opens with that flash of apple skin and apple blossom. Malt backbone leads with toasty grain and sweet treacle. Doughy like half-baked bread. The mid-palate sees the hops start to grab the lion's share of the attention. Oily with an herbal spice, then green and "spring-y" with a notion of pithy fresh grass. Bitterness is moderate to firm. Nutty yeast in the background, but clean. Hops stay strong into the finish and lean more into that oily and herbal end of the spectrum, and dry things out in tandem with some toasty grain.
M: Medium-bodied with a nice round malt feel, a sense of firmness, and some gently pressing weight. Creamy. Carbonation is stiff with a nice bite. Some modest hop tannin grips the enamel.
O: Pretty solid. Easily drinkable as a good festbier should be. A fair shake more aggressively hopped than most, but not completely out of character for some of the hoppier German lagers out there. I found myself liking it quite a bit more as the session went on. Could do with a beer like this being more available year-round. It just falls into its own little niche within the Euro lager market.

Slightly cloudy, golden in color. Slightly frothy white head with good retention. Nose is floral and very fragrant. Initially thought it smelled like a pilsner. Taste was malty, sweet and toasted bread crust. Mild bitterness.

Poured from a can into a tree house tulip glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden color with a one finger head of dense white foam. The head persists for quite some time, fading slowly over time and leaving a high level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a light herbal and floral nature mixed with some light caramel and cracker malt. Along with these smells comes a touch of bread and a bit of toffee.
Taste – The taste starts with a crisp cracker malt paired with a bit of white bread and a decent showing of hops of an herbal and floral nature. The hop persists for quite some time, getting a slight bit weaker on the tongue all while the sweet and bread get a touch stronger. At the very end a bit of grass and hay join in, leaving one with a nice crisp and clean lager taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body is lighter and more crisp with a moderate to slightly more effervescent carbonation level.
Overall – A nice, slightly more hoppy lager. A good drinker overall.
