"Patient Rover is a Munich-style Dunkel that undergoes extended conditioning in our lager cellar. Pouring a dark chestnut color, notes of molten toffee, brown bread, mild chocolate, and caramel float above its wispy off-white head. A sturdy addition of Tettnanger hops provides balance and depth. Its long rest in stainless results in a striking clarity, softness in character, and tight carbonation with sticky meringue-like foam. It is thoughtful, elegant, and packed with nuance and character."

Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Nose is bready and malty. Taste is burnt toffee. Mild bitterness on palate. Backend carries forward the bready flavor. Moderate sweetness.

Pours clear, dark brown in color with one quarter inch head. Taste is cocoa, and roasted malt. Light bodied, moderate carbonation, slightly sweet, roasty. Nice example of the style.

Poured from a can into a tree house tulip glass
Appearance – the beer pours a deep chocolate brown color with a two-finger head of tan colored foam. The head very slowly fades over time, leaving a moderate level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is big and rich with a strong showing of milk chocolate paired with tons of caramel, toffee, and brown sugar. Along with these smells comes notes of vanilla, as well as a cola like smell. Notes of almond and walnut round it all out, producing a rather sweet and inviting smell.
Taste – The taste is less sweet than the nose would let on, but instead more roasty and toasty. It begins with a nice roasted and toasted malt flavor mixed with notes of cocoa and a touch of coffee. While less sweet then anticipated, there is a moderate level of sweetness, with flavor of molasses, brown sugar, and cola being there. At the same time there is a touch of earthiness and a little bit of vanilla, adding another dimension. As the taste moves forward the roast gets a bit more intense, while the sweet fades a touch, and with a bit of nut, one is left with a rather roasty and moderately sweet and malty taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body is rather thick for the abv and style with a lighter carbonation level.
Overall – A pretty nice brew overall, but it does sit pretty heavy on the pallet in comparison to other dunklel. Fun to try.
