German Doppelbock pouring a dark amber color with a crown of coffee-colored foam. Using Pilsner, chocolate, and a host of Munich malts, complex notes of sweet dark fruits, schwarzbrot bread, and a hint of caramel-drizzled hot cocoa unfold over the palate. Despite its rich, full-bodied profile, it finishes dry and pairs perfectly with a celebratory feast, whether served with the main course or dessert.

Pours murky, dark copper in color with one third inch head. Taste is slightly smoky pumpernickle bread. Medium heavy body, moderate carbonation, slightly sweet. Really good domestic interpretation of the style. I will get this again if Iwanted a smoky dopplebock. Surprisingly good.

Late entry from my trip to the brewery last week. On tap at Tree House Charlton
It seems like this is Tree House’s first stab at brewing a Doppelbock. That’s so cool. I love this style around the holidays and already plan on ordering some to go but I figured I’d give it a shot right now too. Let’s see what it has to offer
Pours a very dark brown with 2 fingers of creamy light beige head that slowly fades to a ring and leaves decent lacing
The nose presents a complex malt bill, really classic stuff here. I’m picking up on aromas of dark toast, caramel, raisin, oatmeal, brown sugar, fig, black cherry, light nutmeg, and walnut
Things take a sweeter turn in taste but this is still awesome. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting brown sugar, brown bread, cinnamon butter, black cherry, molasses, vanilla bean, light toast, and raisin. The swallow brings notes of brown bread, oatmeal, fig, cherry pit, burnt sugar, coca powder, molasses, light tobacco, and leather
A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a smooth beer. Finishes a tad sticky but drinks below its abv
This is a damn good Doppelbock, especially for their first one. Glad I ordered this to go
