Four Count Rhythm is our English Mild crafted in honor of those who show us the way forward. We don't remember learning what they taught us. We just realize one day that we know it. Pouring a mahogany color, it carries notes of cracker jacks, toasted hazelnuts, fresh-baked bread, and cocoa powder. Balancing its malt complexity, Target and Fuggle hops lend subtle notes of earthy noble spice.

The water slips over the stones and catches the light before rejoining the stream. The cold draws our breath in and seems to warm the air. Like a conductor leading a grand orchestra, our wrist guides the hypnotic line. A father stands behind us, his hand steadying ours, teaching a rhythm we're only now beginning to understand. So much has happened between these wild excursions, the shape of our life slowly carved in the wake of a tireless world that rises and sets unchanged. There doesn't seem to be a beginning or an end to the story as its lessons travel through me into you.

Pour from a fresh 16oz can. Watery to a fault. It tastes like they took a batch of their milk stout and added water to it. Not at all what you might expect from an English Mild. I also had a can of their Woodstock Brown Beer (brewed in Woodstock) and that was close to an English Mild and it was enjoyable.

On nitro tap at Tree House Brewing in Saratoga, NY.

This one pours a delightfully creamy looking golden brown, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like toasted bread, dark chocolate, bitter nuttiness, and cereal grain.

This tastes unbelievably creamy – it took really, really well to the nitro delivery. It’s toasty, wonderfully nutty, a bit like cheerios in a good way, with some hazelnut and chocolate as well.

This is very creamy and rich tasting, with a nice full drinkability.

Tree House is obviously somewhat of an IPA factory, but they do rarer and more traditional styles so well.

I'm so glad to see an English Mild coming out of Tree House. Poured from the can into a Tree House branded Willi Becher glass.

Appearance is of a dark amber - copper color, with about a two inch light tan head. The head has some staying power, as it was nitro-charged. The head settles to a quarter-inch cap for the duration. Some nice lacing left on the glass.

Aromas and flavors of brown bread, lightly roasted malt, a bit of sweetness, some nuttiness too. There are some spice notes from the hops also. Mild bitterness, not really noticeable when sipping at first but builds pleasantly on the finish.

There is a medium body, perhaps a bit lighter, not watery by any means but lends to the drinkability.

I am impressed by this one. At such a moderate ABV, there is a lot of flavor packed in here. This reminds me of some of the best English ales I have had in the past. A great addition to the Tree House classic beer collection.

16 oz can dated Spring 2026

Pours clear mahogany dark red amber with a creamy frothy off-white light khaki colored foam head. Smells like freshly brewed black tea, nutty toasted dark bready malts, hints of caramel, mapley toffee, amber honey, mild cocoa, licorice, subtle apricot, lemony orange citrus marmalade, a touch of spice, and herbal earthy floral grassy hops. Tastes fairly light in flavor with toasted nutty dark bready crackery biscuity malts, hints of caramel, mapley toffee, amber honey, cocoa, char, licorice, subtle pretzel, dried fruits, some fig, raisin, dates, apricot, lemony orange citrus marmalade, a touch of spice, sweet tobacco, black tea leaves, and herbal earthy floral grassy hops. Feels medium bodied, slick and creamy with smooth low carbonation. Overall a really nice English mild ale.
