Hopsy is a New Zealand Pilsner that pours a straw-yellow color, with peaks of foam that slowly collapse into the glass. A blend of hops from our friends at Garston Hops, including Motueka, Rakau, Cascade, and Nelson Sauvin, fills the air with aromas of white grape, candied citrus peel, and passionfruit juice. A touch of German Hallertau Mittelfrüh rounds out these fruit-forward hops with an earthy note of noble spice within a crisp finish. This zippy lager is a tribute to our four-legged friend Hopsy, who can usually be found zooming around the hop yard.

Described on the can as a New Zealand-Style Pilsner, with a 5.5% ABV. Tasted from a 16 oz can. Inkjet on bottom of can says Spring 2026 but was posted on their IG account on 2/25/26 so assume packaged on that date. Poured with some vigor into a Willi Becher glass.

Appearance is a straw yellow color with a slight haze, with a two inch white head. The head settles down into a fluffy quarter-inch cap with good retention. Quite a bit of lacing left on the glass.

Refreshing aroma of fresh squeezed lemon, some grassy notes, some light grain, white grape in the back.

Flavors of lemon and light grain. Light sweetness, lemon zest. Light to moderate amount of bitterness, both on the sip and the finish.

Just a shade lighter than medium body, makes for a refreshing sip without being watery. Some drying in the finish from the hops.

Very flavorful pilsner. Imagine a refreshing lemonade with a fair amount of malt sweetness and just the right bitterness from lemon zest.
