Growler fill from Tree House dated 10/26/13 that I finally got cracking open today. Poured it into my Tree House Brewing glass.
A - Pours with a thin head that dissipated quickly leaving a light ring around the edge of the glass. Clings to the glass well and just smoothly slides down. Color is jet black with no light passing through that I can see.
S - Smells like a solid porter to me. I'm getting the typical dark, roasted malt aroma which gives off hints of coffee and dark chocolate. There is some sweetness there too...perhaps raisins or plums? I'm also getting a slight hint of the alcohol.
T - Getting all of the roasted malts right up front. Lots of coffee and dark chocolate flavors throughout. Begins on the sweeter side then finishes pleasantly dry. There's some hop bitterness towards the end which compliments the dry cocoa flavors. Lots of robust flavor...more than I expected from a 6.6% ABV porter.
M - Creamy, rich and not overly carbonated, as is common with Tree House. Very easy to drink...my first glass is just about gone!
O - Very, very good porter. Well worth getting a second time if I get the chance. I have yet to be disappointed by Tree House and Snowtober follows closely in that tradition.
