Showcasing the Michigan cherry, a flavor caught somewhere between sweet and tart comes to life. With their house yeast going to work, this cherry ale is simple, pure and very focused on putting the prized cherry fruit on full display.

Its garnet-mauve pour certainly does just that as its reddish hue portrays fruit juice quite well, despite its short foamstance. And those tangy-sweet flavors spring to life- captivating the nose and early taste its unique pulp and juices.

Its delicate middle keeps the semi-sweet, semi-sour stem ripened fruit on the precipice, but follows with notions of apple cider and zinfindale once the fruit acidity and fermented character takes hold. Where the common fruit and spice character from Belgian yeast would have been a big help, the cherry ale heads into finish just as it started.

Partly dry and partly sweet, the trailing taste is medium through and through. To close out summer, its a refreshing taste that borrows elements from fruit-flavored sodas but with a slightly malty beer tone.

Hazy amber with a modest, fading cream head.

Malt and grain dominant, lightly sweet caramel and nutty notes, with a dab of chocolate and just a hint of cherries.

Flavor is more cherry dominant, though there's significant malt presence and lots of earthy, bitter hops that surface in the finish. Cocoa lingers in the background very subtly.

A little too much malt and hops and not enough cherry or sourness to be near a kriek. Chocolate is a stretch. Too bitter for my liking.
